Chase Freedom Flex: Possible To Get More Than One Card via Product Change

The Chase Freedom Flex card states clearly in the FAQ that you can only get ONE of them, and we confirmed with the Chase media team that this is indeed supposed to be the case. However, reader Eric reports having no issue converting two separate Chase Freedom cards to Freedom Flex on two separate phone calls.

Honestly, this doesn’t matter all that much for the scenario of changing two Freedom to Freedom Flex since having one Flex gets you the dining/drugstore categories, and you can just as well leave the remainder as the old Freedom card (unless you want to increase your drugstore credit limit).

However, this would matter more for someone who wants to increase the number of Freedom 5% category cards they have overall: given that they are allowing more than one Flex card, hopefully it’ll continue to be possible to product change into Freedom Flex cards, even if the old Freedom card become unavailable for product change. (As of today, the old Freedom card is still available for product change, according to a reader’s report.)

Then again, this all might be first-day confusion, and in the future it might not be possible to get more than one Flex. We’ll see how this evolves.

Hi I’m getting so confused with all these new changes. With there be a reason to keep the freedom card and not convert it to a freedom flex? I am over 5/24. I actually have two freedom cards. One was a card that was product change from a sapphire a while back

If you product change to CFF, are you eligible for their 200 welcome bonus?

No. You wouldn’t even be able to directly apply for it either .

I wonder if you can convert to one AND apply for a new one

I just attempted to downgrade my CSR to a Chase Freedom, but only CFF and CFU were available as product change options. Background info: I’m now 48 months since earning CSR bonus.

Is there any way to find out when the CSR bonus was awarded?

I went back to my statements 4 years ago to verify when points were awarded. I’m sure you could also go through the UR portal and see when points were awarded, but I don’t know if portal goes back 4 years.

Are you sure that you were given the option to product change CSR to CFF directly? From what we have heard so far, it seemed that only CF can be product changed to CFF.

I am sure. I clarified 3 times with customer service rep (the other CSR acronym) and she said she did not see Chase Freedom as an option – only Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited. She seemed to be confused by this too as she recounted that “only yesterday [she] saw the option to product change to the Freedom card”.

Interesting. I product changed from a CSR into a Freedom (not Flex) this morning.

Glad you were able to! Perhaps a more savvy rep you had or perhaps time zone difference? I product changed around 12:30 PM PST on 9/13/20.
