Chase Honoring Mistaken Email On Freedom Unlimited Card For 3x Everywhere Through December 9th

Sometime recently, Chase had apparently sent out an email which mistakenly indicated that these cardholders would get double rewards at 3x everywhere from that date (??) until December 9, 2023. Today, they sent out an email that they’ll honor the mistake:

In a recent email, we displayed an incorrect earn rate. As a result, we will honor an extra 1.5% Cash Back reward on all purchases through December 9, 2023. You will see the additional earn posted to your account within 8 weeks from 12/9/2023.

After 12/9/23 you will continue to earn the normal 1.5% Cash Back on purchases.*

We apologize for the confusion and thank you for choosing Chase Freedom Unlimited. Sincerely,

Chase Card Services

Nice few days now to capitalize on this for those targeted.

On February statement for Chase Freedom card, I received all of the promised points. Points credit was labeled as “courtesy adjustments”.

Is this the same as the recent 1-year, 3x signup bonus or a different promo?

I was concerned they were taking away my sign up bonus when I got this email. I’m supposed to get double points back after 1 year. I will call just to make sure!

Any idea if this means people will get 6x if they are in the first year of the signup bonus for non-bonus category spend ? That would be crazy

If anything it would likely be 4.5x because it’s +1.5x and not +3x

It’s great to see Chase taking responsibility for their mistake and honoring the double rewards offer. Mistakes happen, but it’s commendable when companies prioritize customer satisfaction and stand by their commitments.

Amex did a commendable job in 2021. They accidentally offered 1500 back on 1500 spend 3x and let everyone have their credit applied, if the offer was added to the card

Not worth the legal trouble for chase. Would be so surprised if they didn’t honor it.
