Instacart: Chase Cardholders Get Up To $15 Monthly Statement Credits & Instacart+ Membership For Up To 1-Year (Sapphire, Freedom Cards)

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Chase teams up with Instacart to offer a statement credit to offset Instacart purchases on all of the various Sapphire and Freedom card varieties. This is on top of the free Instacart+ membership which was released in June. Once activating the Instacart+ membership, you’ll be eligible for the credits.
    • Sapphire Reserve and JP Morgan Reserve gets a $15 statement credit each calendar month; plus free Instacart+ membership for 12 months
    • Sapphire and Sapphire Preferred gets a $15 statement credit each quarter; plus free Instacart+ membership for 6 months
    • Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, Freedom Student, and Slate cards get a $10 statement credit each quarter, plus free Instacart+ membership for 3 months

Our Verdict

This is an interesting new addition for the Sapphire Reserve card, especially. Someone who uses Instacart on a regular basis can see a full $180 benefit here. Even if not, maybe you can get some value out of this. Let us know if there’s any easy way to use this credit up.

Remember, again, to cancel your Instacart+ before the end of the free membership since you’ll get auto-charged the renewal fee. I’m not positive, but the monthly/quarterly credits will probably stop after cancelling the membership.

The $60 annual credits on the Sapphire cards and $40 on Freedom cards can hopefully be somewhat useful as well. Again, you’ll only get one or two quarters of credits when utilizing the free Instacart+ trial on these cards. After that the quarterly credits probably won’t continue.

So I’m definitely getting extra credits on my CSR that was product changed to a Freedom, enrolled in Instacart+ with both cards (it let me enroll it as a CSR and then much later as a freedom card). Instacart purchase this morning received both a $15 credit and a $10 credit.

I signed up 1/21 with my Flex card, made a purchase of $17.49 on 1/23, a purchase of $15.70 on 1/27, a purchase of $8.45 on 2/1, all with my Flex card. First two were Sprouts Express orders, one regular order from Sprouts, all were free delivery. I still have not received a $10 statement credit. Am I missing something (besides the statement credit of course, lol)?

You activated the free Instacart+ through the Chase link? Not a trial with Instacart? If so, you should have gotten the $10 statement credit with that first purchase at the same time or at least within a day or so.

On the Instacart+ area there is a special offers area, shows the Chase offer that is where I redeemed it. That is where the direct link here takes me as well. The terms state the 3 months of Instacart+ and the $10 statement credit. Yet no credit.

I had to have Chase customer service credit it to my Freedom Flex. But my Freedom Unlimited card seems to be crediting it at the same time of purchase. I made a 7.53 purchase and got that same amount credited. Same with a $2 and $1.73 purchase. (just service fees and tips I paid). I’ve received $11.07 credit total now.

Since it says offer ends in July 2023, will the statement credits continue with membership, or do they end in July?

I just added 2 CSPs and 3 freedom cards between P1 and P2. Added them into one instacart account. The memberships all stack sequentially and my account now says “Membership includes 21 free months with your Chase cards.” And when I click the little info button next to it it says “Activated on 2/28/23 with your Chase Freedom card, on 2/28/23 with your Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, on 2/28/23 with your chase Freedom Flex card, yada yada yada.”

Has anyone got $10/quarter statement credit with Chase freedom cards ?

Under Instacart offers – I see this note ’10/quarter statement credit When you place qualifying orders on Instacart through July 2024″.

My 3 months free membership was expired early this month.

You don’t need Instacart membership to get the $10/$15 credit. Just pay for your Instacart order with the appropriate card. The credit shows up the exact day the charge shows up on your online account.

Wow the base chase sapphire getting the same offer as the preferred? I’ll try that out although I don’t see myself using this much.

I subscribed for 3 months membership with my Chase Freedom yesterday. I had instacart+ with my other Chase Freedom in October-January but I never got $10 quarterly.
1. Where should I see $10 – in chase or in instacart balance?
2. When is “quarterly” if I have a subscription in February to May – March and then April since they are in different calendar quarters?
3. What should I do to get the credit? I usually buy instacart gift cards with discounts and use my instacart balance. There is no way to use partially chase credit card if I have money on instacart. I don’t get $10 quarterly if I spend instacart balance?

1. Need to pay with Chase cc for your order. If less than $10/$15, then you’ll get the whole amount off. If more than that, then it’ll be the net amount after subtracting the credit.

2. No need for an active subscription of Instacart. You do need to have registered the credit card on your account first. Then every quarter you’ll get the credit back. Quarter is calendar quarter. Use by the end of March, June, September and December.

3. I don’t buy their gcs so I don’t know if you can split the payment. Perhaps place two orders, one for your credit and charge it to Chase cc. Then place the reminder of your order to pay with gcs.

Thank you Dan!
I added all my 3 Chase Freedom cards to my instacart.
I’ll spend my giftcard balance soon and will make 3 pick up orders in March to get 3*10$ back.
I don’t understand why ppl complain about instacart prices. I make pick up orders from cheap ALDI or BOGO Publix. And usually I spent giftcards which I bought on Amazon/groceries/Walgreens with CC deals. So they are already 15-50% off.

What about pickup fee? I am seeing 3.99 added for under $35 at Aldi?

Has anyone tried to buy Instacart gift cards? I’m away from home and don’t need to buy anything right now. I wonder if I can stock up a $15 gift card each month. Thanks!

Anyone try this? I’ve also been wondering. Would be easier to just stack up my gift card balance once and not worry about hitting $35 orders constantly for our bazillion freedom cards.

DP: I was able to *stack* the free trial from three different cards (CSR, Freedom Visa, Freedom Unlimited) on *one* Instacart account. I activated the free trial on the CSR first, and it gave me a renewal date 12 months into the future (10/2023). Then, I activated the free trial from the other two cards one by one, and now my renewal date shows 12+3+3 months (4/2024).

I also placed Instacart orders on all three cards. All three got their respective credits. As a cherry on top I paid with PayPal on the Freedom for the 5x and it still gave the $10 credit normally.

Might try using P2’s CSP to see if I can get another 6 months out of all this.

So I added 3 chase cards ( preferred unlimited flex) to my Instacart account which stacked months as you said (6+3+3). Am I able to place three orders for three statement credits simultaneously or does the statement credit only apply to the card that the membership is currently under?

I use whatever card that still has the credit available for that quarter to pay in any of my Instacart accounts. The credit shows up just fine each time. You can place three separate orders and pay for them with the respective cards to get the respective credits. It is not tied to your Instacart account.

Do you need to have the card activated with Instacart+ membership? or can you use any Freedom?

I have 8 Freedom + 1 CSR, was able to add 1 CSR + 3 freedom but adding any more it errors out. can I use freedom that were not activated to get the quarterly credit

Great tip, I was able to stack Freedom and Flex on top of CSP to extend Instacart+ for another 6 months on one account. Hopefully the $15/$10/$10 credits per quarter will show on my statements.

On the activation page it says the Chase credits will apply until July 2024. Would the credits apply even after canceling Instacart+ membership? I guess we will find out one way or another.

Yes. Credits will remain after you cancel the membership.

I’m wondering if Instacart Purchases using paypal will trigger the $10 off qtrly for freedom. I have a pending charge. Anyone know. I have another order I need to make and bypass paypal to ensure it triggers.
