Chase Is Matching IHG Cardholders To The 100,000 Point Offer If You Applied Recently (Last 90 Days)

Update: Matching no longer seems to work unless you’re eligible for the 100,000 bonus.

Chase increased the standard sign up bonus on the Chase IHG card to 80,000 points after $1,000 in spend, they also increased a targeted offer to 100,000 points after $2,000 in spend. Several readers have now reported successfully being matched to the 100,000 point offer (even if they previously applied for a 60,000 offer or the new 80,000 point offer. If you’ve applied within the last 90 days it’s worth requesting a match by secured message.

Keep in mind they will tell you to do the following:

  • Spend $2,000 (instead of $1,000) within the first three months of account opening
  • Send them another message asking to be matched

I’d recommend sending them the message before spending the $2,000 so you have evidence they have approved the match before committing to the spend requirement.

Thanks to reader purobear for originally informing me of this match. Some more succesful data points: 1, 2

I was able to (finally) match to 100k from 60k. Originally applied end of July, I believe. Additional 40k points posted today.

How did you get the match? I originally got the 80k/$1,000 deal and was planning to contact them again to try to get bumped up to the 100k pts as I have almost met the $1,000 spend requirement for my current bonus.

Read my comments above. Basically I think because I put in the original request before they stopped the status matches, they granted me mine. Also, I suggest spending 2k first, then calling for the 100k match. I was told to do that.

Since they no longer match, the only thing I can do is to never spend a penny on the IHG card any more, except paying the annual fee to get the free night.

Just sent a SM to try to get matched to the 100k/$2000 from the 80k/$1000. They replied in about an hour and said I wasn’t eligible to get the match.

I can confirm that they are no longer matching. It was refused via SM earlier. I called them. He specifically stated they used to match. After recent information and policy change, they are no longer matching.
It could be YMMV though. But looks like this one died. Anyone with match recently over the past week or so?

I have been shooting them around 20 emails starting Aug 14. All of them told me that I was not eligible to get a match.

I put in a request about 10 days ago and just got a letter in the mail with this:

“The offer to receive 100,000 points is only available via invitation. Please provide us with the invitation code on the offer and we will be happy to review the offer….”

then

“If you do not have an invitation for the 100,000 points offer, we would be happy to match the offer to receive 80,000 points after spending 1,000 within the first three months the account is open. Once you fulfill the spending requirement, please contact us and we will add the 20,000 additional points”

HOWEVER

I just called them again and the rep put in the 100k request with no issue, mentioning that they were getting swamped with requests for 100k matches and they stopped honoring that as of Aug 4th or 5th. She then said that since my first request was before Aug 4th, I should be approved for the 100k.

Looks like you can get at least 80k, will keep you posted on the 100k

Hi Victor, since they were matching you the 80K offer, so your original offer was 60K, right? What number you’ve called for the 100K match?

Correct, I had the 60k offer and was offered to match to 80k. The number provided on the letter was generic: 1-800-436-7937

I applied today for the 80k offer and was instantly approved; i sent a SM reqesting the 100k match and received the following response:

“We understand you are interested in a different bonus
offer and reviewed the application you submitted. The
account doesn?t qualify for the new offer of 100,000
reward points. Promotional offers are only available for
select products and are subject to availability and
upgrading bonus points are not available for this offer
since the Promotional code was not used at the time of
application and cannot be added later.”

I think they might have stopped matching this offer, maybe i will try again tomorrow

I applied a week ago and i also got the rejection (almost identical SM response), They said their marketing department stopped matching now.

I applied for 80k offer yesterday & was instantly approved with a 32k credit limit which I will lower later on. I sent a SM with a screenshot of the 100k offer but got declined. “We reviewed your account ending in xxxx and determined that it is not eligible for the new 100,000 bonus offer you requested. Hence, the original offer you applied for will remain on your account.” Am I pretty much out of luck?

I sent the SM today and it looks like someone from overseas replied. Perhaps I will send another SM on Monday without a screenshot.

Applied after business hours on Wednesday, 27/07/2017; account was added on my chase portal early morning 28/07/2017.
Secured messaged today asked for the match to 100k offer (link included in the secure message), approved, saying :

” Further, we’ll be happy to match the 100,000 enrollment bonus offer on your account. Please reply to this email after you’ve spent $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening for us to add 20,000 bonus points to match the 100,000 enrollment bonus offer.”

Another data point –

-I just applied today for the 80k offer (from your link, small token of my appreciation) Got approved (after calling the reconsideration line).
Requested via secure message right away, to get matched to the 100k offer. They responding saying they will, as soon as I meet the spend requirement. Hooray!

-Another data point. Before applying for the IHG card, I applied for the ink 80k card, but got declined due to 5/24. Since I got approved for the IHG card that I applied for after, confirms that the 5/24 doesn’t hold for IHG card!

DP: Applied for 50k+$100 offer. Matched to 80k after granting permission to reverse statement credit. Refused to match again to 100k because I’m not eligible for that offer, or some wording like that.
