Chase Is Matching IHG Cardholders To The 100,000 Point Offer If You Applied Recently (Last 90 Days)

Update: Matching no longer seems to work unless you’re eligible for the 100,000 bonus.

Chase increased the standard sign up bonus on the Chase IHG card to 80,000 points after $1,000 in spend, they also increased a targeted offer to 100,000 points after $2,000 in spend. Several readers have now reported successfully being matched to the 100,000 point offer (even if they previously applied for a 60,000 offer or the new 80,000 point offer. If you’ve applied within the last 90 days it’s worth requesting a match by secured message.

Keep in mind they will tell you to do the following:

  • Spend $2,000 (instead of $1,000) within the first three months of account opening
  • Send them another message asking to be matched

I’d recommend sending them the message before spending the $2,000 so you have evidence they have approved the match before committing to the spend requirement.

Hi, I recently signed up for 60,000 points- $2,000 spend. When I saw that
IHG was offering 80,000 points, I requested a match which they agreed to. I have already completed the $2,000 spend. Do you think they would now match the 100,000 point offer if I asked? I am within the 90 day period. Thanks for your opinion. Bee

MSR is already met, waiting on statement to close to get (80k – already matched from 60k) points. Messaged asking for 100k and got this:

“We received your request to match the sign up bonus offer
on your Chase Intercontinental Rewards Club Select card.

Your request is under review and you should receive a
response within two to three business days.

I appreciate your patience and understanding in this
matter.”

Honestly the first time I’ve seen this reply from a SM request.

I think the answer is no… but is it possible to open the Card if i already have a IHG card.

Also How many days should i wait before I open the card again if i decide to close it?

The usual answer is that you need to wait for it to fall off your credit report.

SUCCESS with matching to 100k offer! Spouse was approved on 7/6 for 80k offer but sent private message to chase support and they replied saying they will match the 100k offer.

I applied to the 80k offer and got matched to the 100k offer.

Will see if works. Approved for 80k this morning, secure messaged them about 6 ago, still waiting to hear back, fingers crossed.

Wonder why some people got matched a d some people got denied.

Just heard back from Chase. Approved for the match, sort of. Message says “once you reach the $2,000 spend, reply to this mesage and we will be happy to match the offer.”

Guess this is a soft yes but they don’t want to go in and change the computer system? May just do a courtsy points grant at that point?

DP: Opened an IHG card less than 3 weeks ago under the 60k/$2k offer. Hit $2k and requested the 80k match. Was approved and already have the 80k in my IHG account. Sent a message earlier today and just received an approval for a match to the 100k offer. I worded my request as such that I did not mention I had already been matched to the 80k. Just said I received 80k and wanted to be matched to the 100k.

The IHG card is not subject to 5/24; the new offer doesn’t change that.

I applied for the 80K offer yesterday and then asked for a match to 100K. I got this vague response:

Your account has the following sign up bonus points
offer:
– Get 80,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000.00 in the
first 3 months from account opening date.

I request you to please reply to this email, once you have
met the spend of $2,000.00 within 3 months from the
account open date. Once we receive your email we will
review your request to match the 100,000 sign up bonus
points offer.

🙁 I asked them to match my account to the new offer (I opened my card about 3 weeks ago). They denied it and said my account is not eligible. Still waiting for their response for the reason.

I haven’t received the bonus on this card in almost 3 years. I still have the card though. If I closed it, how long do I have to wait to sign up to get the bonus again?

you’ll need to close it and wait until it appears as closed on your credit report.
