Our Verdict

This offer has been available for some time but it required matching, it’s nice to be able to apply for the bonus directly. There is also a 100,000 point offer available only to targeted accounts that you could try apply for (note the offer shows for everybody but when you click apply it won’t work for most people) or to get matched to, (this offer requires $2,000 spend instead of $1,000). The nice thing about this card is that it’s not subjected to the Chase 5/24 rule (although getting the card will stay count towards your total number of cards). The free night certificate that can be used on any property for $49 per year is also fantastic value.

Points are at their most valuable when you redeem them for properties on the PointsBreak list (all these hotels cost 5,000 per night), the downside to that is the quality of properties is usually low and the better ones book up quickly. I still think this is a card worth applying for and the same offer that required matching has been on our best credit card list for some time. As always before applying for this card or asking basic questions in the comments make sure you read these things everybody should know about Chase credit cards.

When I click on the link and see the 100K does that mean I am targeted? Would it not error out otherwise?

When you click on “Apply Now” it will let you know if you are eligible. It may redirect you to a different (60,000) point offer.

+1 Can confirm it does that to me 🙁

The 100k offer requires at $2k spend. I just got targeted.

Applied and no dice. Recon’d twice. Stated my balances were high compared to income (at about 35%.. dont think thats high and I provided a reason). Also stated too many open accounts in last 24 months. Being young probably hurt me in this scenario.

Don’t know why they can’t move credit over from my ridiculous CSR limit. Heck, cut the CSR in half and give me $1,000 limit on the IHG. Very annoying.

I will call back in a couple days. Took me 6 calls to get approved for SW Premier

2000 is the minimum on this card if you recon again and ask for a certain limit

I understand it’s a very nice card to apply, but is it to keep?

Anyone that has the card, can you give me your impressions?

reserved a room using the annual certificate at IC hong kong which normally cost $300 to 400 a night. do you you think the card is a keeper?

sirtheta

It’s a $49 annual fee for a free night anywhere. This card is firmly in the keeper department — perhaps even the most classic example of a keeper card.

A FREE night at any of the Intercontinental Hotels brands is certainly worth the $49 annual fee in my book, even if you were to just use the FREE night at a cheap, $80 Holiday Inn. My partner and I both have the card, so that gives us 2 FREE nights per year, to use where ever we want to go, any place in the world. $49 for a hotel room at a hotel that usually charges $300 is a no-brainer.

How good is the availability or lack of – for booking the annual free night at Category 9-10 hotels? Do you have to book several months in advance?

Does it mean any room?

For example a room with 2 beds? Thanks!

Ofcourse not, read the terms.

I was just matched to 100k/$2k offer. (I did not provide a link nor a screenshot)

Happy Churning!

So you just applied under the current 80K offer and then emailed them to match to 100K?

That’s pretty much it.

Applied, approved, secured messaged (no pic/link), then it’s game, set and ‘matched’.

If I cancel my current card that just had the anniversary night post to my account will I lose it? Or does it stick in IHG?

Does these point help u qualify for the sphire status at ihg properties or do u still stay at platinum status

FYI: They’re matching the 100k/$2k offer. Confirmed it for me and some others on the Reddit thread are reporting the same.

Whoops, just saw you already posted on this. Oh well, more DPs I suppose!

Does the free night certificate carry over into the next year if it isn’t used? Do they just keep accumulating each year if not used?

jdpinto
jdpinto

Never mind, I just saw in the offer details that the certificate expires after a year.

I just wanted to confirm that you can close your current card and reapply for this card to receive the bonus only after 2 years have passed since you earned the award?

sirtheta

Yes, although best practice is to give it some number of days to make sure the system doesn’t incorrectly flag you as having it open even though you’ve closed it.

Considering this. If I close my current card, do I lose my points? Also, do I lose the free night if I haven’t used it yet? Thanks!

Cameron

If you’re an authorized user on someone else’s IHG card already, can you still apply and get the bonus?

sirtheta

Yes, indeed!
