The public sign up bonus for the Chase IHG card is currently 70,000 points (after there previously being an 80,000 point offer), it’s been possible to get an offer of 80,000 points + $50 for some during the booking process (there is also a third 72,000 point offer). A lot of readers have tried getting matched to this higher bonus by sending in a secured message. As far as I know, nobody has had success getting the $50 statement credit and previously there have been mixed results in getting the additional 10,000.
Over the past couple of days a lot of readers have e-mailed in letting me know they managed to get matched to this higher bonus, even if they were denied for a match in the past. I wouldn’t apply for this card with the expectation of being matched to the higher bonus, but if you’ve already applied it’s definitely worth a message (even if you’ve been told no before).
I’d say something along the lines of:
I applied for the Chase IHG card, which had a bonus of 70,000 points. Recently I saw a bonus on the IHG website that was for 80,000 points. I was wondering if Chase could please match this bonus for me? Thank you very much.
If a secured message doesn’t work, give them a call and see if your luck is any better. If they ask for a link, you can try giving them this: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/ihg/ihgsaml80plus, but it’s probably safer to say that you saw it when you went to make a booking.
