Question, used my Sapphire Reserve Card and was expecting to use the balance of my $300 annual credit on my next Best Western Stay so will that stack with the 10% discount and yes, will be paying more than $100 for my room.

Thanks,

Dave

Probably a good idea to mention that these are targeted (even if you do so in the linked article). I’ve never used my BoA card for travel, and my Chase card is the Marriott Premier Plus, so of course I’m not seeing these.

This makes a nice stack:
– 10% back from this offer
– either 2.5% [or 2.5MR/$] from Ebates* or 5 Avios/$ from BA Shopping
– BW free night after 2 stays promo
– BW** earnings
– CC category earnings

*Ebates sent me an email advertising Travel Thursdays. Could be more than 2.5%/2.5MR on Thursday?

**Best Western will easily status match you; that boosts your earnings on, and may improve the quality of, upcoming stays. No word on how long that status is valid or how it can be extended, though. They’re also running a double-/triple-/quadruple-points promo on certain properties, but it seems there are only a few left in the US, and none are at 4X.

We’ve been status matched at BW, and actually stay at their properties, but I’ve never experienced / noticed any value from it. Not even the courtesy of an hour extra for late checkout. Correction: one time we called the front desk and got them to give us a govt rate for a very last minute booking (like 4pm in the afternoon for a 5pm arrival) provided we booked direct over the phone and didn’t go through an OTA or even the BW website. We got that after mentioning our status.

You might get ever so slightly better treatment at places you stay at repeatedly (and that the individual property can notice) but the extent of that is like honoring a request like “near/close to the elevator pls”.

Wow, that’s a couple notches below my experience as Bonvoy Silver Elite (which I get automatically from the CC).

Still potentially a sweet deal if you like BW and are planning on 3 overnights… just a tad less sweet than I expected.

I matched to Diamond Select at Best Western three or four years ago and have held that status since. I. do use BW for maybe 10-15 room nights a year so I’m obviously not keeping my status by number of nights.

As for aubergine ‘s comment about not getting any value from status, about the only real benefit is the point multiplier from the higher levels. The desk clerks mention my status level maybe one out of ten times at best, but it’s more a commentary than anything else.

Also, if you can get matched to Diamond Select (which is pretty easy) you can use that to get matching to other programs, so that’s pretty handy.

“Currently Best Western also has a promotion where if you stay two nights you get a free night.”… To clarify, the requirement in the promo is that you have *two stays*, not two nights.

I thought this might have been triggered by a recent BW stay we had , but I guess this was shared widely
