This is probably old news to most, but I was caught off guard. Have a still open Sapphire reserve card (that I intend to keep) that was opened more than 48 months ago. Excellent credit, though that appears not to have been a factor as one rep told me they never even pulled my credit. Under 5/24.

Auto-denied and told “you can only have one sapphire product” by two reps. Anyway – most of you probably know this but surprised me so thought I would share.

Someone who has churned as long as I have shouldn’t have just made a $700 rookie mistake. Somehow mistook 5/24 to be less than five accounts still opened in last two years. It is 5 that were opened, not still opened. No idea why I momentarily thought that. I have known about the rule since it came out and actually before that, thanks to DOC.
I was at 5/24 but would have been free in just a few weeks.
Did app-o-rama of many cards with different banks on different tabs. All auto shoot downs, or Amex pop up… and one pending.
Chase, the first, was auto no.
Called recon once and they said 5/24.
Called twice more this week and now they won’t even tell me how many is “too many”. They are “all taught the same lending practices” and it depends, and could even be “3, 4, or 5” in two years.
They reminded me of when exactly i had already called, and asked almost rudely, Do you have any other questions…

Hopefully no one else got this grim message that 5/24 could now be (on some occasions?) 3/24. Maybe they meant 3/24ers could still be shot down , but not auto shot down. Maybe rep was just bluffing. Not a good DP in any case.
The only thing on the secure message was Too many accounts. Nothing else about inquiries, other banks, AAoA, non use, other Chase cards with minimal spend. Only too many.

Since one of pendings (very surprisingly) got approved i am 5/24 again…..

Since that Sep 2018 acct just fell off my report (after I applied), i was hoping that they would at least count them from the September app and i might have been 4/24. They did not even entertain the idea.

1. You have too many
2. We can’t tell you how many is too many
3. Do you have any other questions?

I even lowered my Ink CL 15% before calling.
Last Sapph bonus: over 4 years ago
Have had open Freedom card for 10 years. Spending most months on it.
Credit score: upper 7s
Util: 0%
Have open cards from every major bank
Total Chase exposure: 5 cards, CL about 50% of annual income

Get Chase cards first but don’t expect much more once your exposure reaches 50% of yearly income

I don’t have a good tracking of my previous bonuses that I’ve received (I know that I’ve had a sapphire product in the past). I’ve tried calling chase to see the last time I received a sign-up bonus from their Sapphire product but they could not tell me. Does anyone know if Chase will tell me whether I’m eligible for the bonus or not when I apply?

Do you guys think the referral offer will update to 80k before this offer expires? I am curious if Chase is not updating the referral link on purpose

There has been a lot of discussion about when people would qualify for this offer as many of us got the last signup bonus around Oct or Nov of 2016. Is there a way to find out how the “48 months” rule is defined, i.e. since the last date/statement date/statement month/calendar month etc. the bonus was awarded?

Does referral link give 80K points or still shows 60k points? Any updates?

Is there anyway to find out when I last had the Chase Sapphire Preferred card? I don’t remember if it has been 48 months since I last got the bonus.

Also how long after 5/24 goes to 4/24 can I apply for a new Chase credit card?

Any DPs for Chase matching CSP referral bonus from a friend to the public offer 80k UR?

I asked my friend to send me the referral and the link shows 60k instead of the current 80k. Called Chase and the rep says referral not same as public offer – can’t be matched.

Want to get more information before trying another customer rep.

Lol you can’t “match” referral offers cuz what you’re describing isn’t really matching, its changing offers (referral -> public). Rmb for referral offers Chase has to pay the referrer too so it doesn’t make sense for them to have the same 80k (although ik this has been done before with other offers)
