Card Details

Our Verdict

This is obviously a terrific deal if you were targeted. We recently saw this as a public offer.  It’s likely a highly targeted mailer, let us know if you got it.

Not completely related but wanted to report anyway. I applied for this card last November and then ran into a bit of trouble meeting the spend. I thought I wouldn’t make it in time and so decided to take a chance and ask for an extension. Sent a nice request through secure message and they gave me 3 additional weeks. Turns out I didn’t need them after all, but thought it was very nice of them.

P2 got targeted with this; she’s never had a Chase card but a healthy score through Amex

This card desperately needs an update with its bonuses.

Lol it had the 80k bonus as public late last year and a $1200 bonus (assuming 1.5x PYB with CSR) is as good as it gets..

I think they means the bonus categories. I have this and Freedom Flex – rarely have to use this.

Dang. I applied this week and got “we need more time.” Waiting for the mail to tell me why I can’t get CSP. I’m 2/24, and I got the CSR bonus 49 months ago.

It’s 48 months since the time you got the bonus, not the application.

If I upgraded into the CSR earlier last year but didn’t get any bonus (and now downgraded back), would I be eligible for this bonus? My last Sapphire bonus was the CSR 100K in 2016. Sorry I know this info is somewhere on the site but can’t find the page.

Yes, but you can’t hold 2 sapphire cards, so you’d need to cancel. Make sure you transfer points out.

TB

Yes, you just have to either cancel your existing Sapphire product or downgrade to Freedom before applying.

Make sure there have been 48 months between the time you got your last bonus and when you apply. Instead of canceling just downgrade your CSR to no-fee Freedom Flex before applying again.

I never get targeted for this sh*t! I’ve been waiting for a good CSR or CSP offer.

My friend who is a AU on one of my cards got the offer sent to my house. I’m sure she won’t apply She doesn’t get it. But she did just apply for a REI credit card.

if you were to “handle her” and told us where you hid the body, we probably wouldn’t rat you out

Why does the verdict section mention that “we’ve never seen such a high offer…” when there was a public offer a few moths ago with the same bonus parameters (80K UR for $4K spend) that ran through November 2020. It was even posted and discussed here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-sapphire-preferred-80000-points-signup-bonus-with-4000-spend-public-offer/

William Charles

Because this targeted offer was originally before that public offer was available. Let me update the verdict section

Thanks. BTW, didn’t mean to sound harsh/critical or anything – I understand that these posts go through cycles and the timing can get misaligned. I was actually half expecting someone to respond/confirm that this targeted offer also waived the AF for the first year.

William Charles

No problem at all, I took it as constructive feedback and always welcome that

too bad the 5/24 rule applies

Wonder if you could purchase a mailer for this. I remember it worked for the CIPs 125k in 2019

Definitely interested in this too.

It would not help. My friend gets her mail at my place and she was targeted… I tried to use the offer for myself but her name is hard coded to he application, no way around it.
