Our Verdict
Previous best was 80k + 5k. Most people won’t be eligible due to the 5/24 rule. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.
Hat tip to reader Joe
Just saw this offer in the seat back pocket of
my United flight.
To folks who applied via this link offering 90K miles, has any of you got the agent’s 5K miles? I got the 5K miles for AU, but haven’t seen the 5K miles from the agent’s yet. If anyone got the agent’s 5K miles, would you share the timeline? thanks.
I chatted with their online chat feature and was sent a link – the promo code was already filled out for the extra 5k miles: The code is: V139840
Anyone knows how soon the miles will be posted once the spending is satisfied? thanks.
Timing of the points hitting the account is of interest to me as well
Did you get the 5K miles from agent’s code?
It shows 60000 miles on chase website …am I seeing something wrong…also how to get agent code
How to get agent promotional code?
Tried chat on united app, agent didn’t provide one
The agent on the chat should have sent you a link with an already pre-filled out Agent code – Note: Chat agents don’t have an Agent code…but they do have a link to the offer that already puts in the Agent Code: V139840 Here is the link I was given: https://secure.chase.com/web/oao/application/card?sourceCode=HNN9&action=guest&UBID=V139840&cellCode=62QV&combo=Y#/origination/cardDetails/index/initiateConFullApp;cellCode=62QV;cfgCode=CONPREFILLAPPCC;channel=C30;sourceCode=HNN9;AOC=5058;RPC=0480;combo=Y;UBID=V139840;params=,,,no,no,,,
If I get this card and buy an air ticket for my son going to college alone then will he get the free first checked bag too?
Are 80K miles worth about $600 in usual United Air ticket prices?
I’m pretty sure the free bag is tied to the Mileageplus account of the flyer.
I used agent promotional code to apply and instantly approved
are you able to find out in your account that the agent code has been attached?
Can you get this card if you have a no AF United Gateway card?
Yes. From the offer details: “This product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.”

Thanks. I came across a reddit thread that indicates all United personal cobranded cards are treated as a single product: https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedairlines/comments/19dync6/do_you_qualify_for_explorer_card_sub_if_you/
In the same thread, someone reported successfully receiving the SUB for the Explorer card when having a Gateway card.

Did they just increase the reward because the demand was lower than expected?
Also, does it make sense to get both UA explorer and UA quest (for the bonus)?
To folks who got approved for this card, can I know how quickly did you get the 2 free united pass? Is that in email or is that in the plain paper mail? Thanks.
They’re electronic now, go into your United account. Can’t recall how long it took but it wasn’t long.
Thanks. Do you know if I travel with my wife, can I use one for myself and the other for my wife or am I the only person that can use the pass? (assuming I don’t want to add my wife as an AU on this card.)
I used both mine for myself and spouse, who is not an AU.
Passes arrive even before the card does. very quickly, within a day or 2 of approval. And according to the new rules, you can use them for any travel companion as long as you (cardholder) or any authorized user is present as well. In the old days, everyone can use them, but now cardholder need to be one of the visitors.. and anyone with them is OK.
Just ran across this:
Effective May 1, 2025, one-time passes can only be used by the cardholder, an authorized user, or a guest accompanying the cardholder
Thanks
Celia 🔗 and
VL
I received my passes the day after I was approved
I got the passes the day after approval.
thanks.
Do you remember how soon you got the bonus miles after you spent $3K? thanks
I’d like to know too about when the miles will be posted to my united account once the spending requirement is met.
