Maybe Choice should just acquire Wydham’s Days Inn Vancouver Airport, couldn’t really make it any worse then when I stayed there with their lackey staff

Don’t forget Best Western, Choice!

What a goofy time for Choice Hotels to consider it. Choice Hotels is only about halfway through the process of integrating Radisson Hotels Americas.

They should wait until they’re done with that before they consider anything else, because it’s still not clear how their program will look once they’re done with that.

Choice and Wyndham may be in a similar hotel space, but Choice and Radisson were not in such a similar hotel space.

I hope not. They are leagues apart in service and quality. This would bring Wyndham down.

That’s nearly 17,000 properties after merger… not counting in construction ones… I got the distinct feeling that Strawberry will probably leave though…

There is no best hotel point. There was one is the past, it was SPG. Marriott killed it.

Hyatt, no contest.

It’s crazy that anyone is saying anything other than Hyatt. The award chart that Hyatt has compared to dynamic pricing for every other hotel program makes the points so valuable

I’m having trouble understanding the strategy behind this proposal. While both Wyndham and Choice have upscale brands, both families are heavily weighted towards the budget end of the spectrum. I’m not seeing much in the way of brand synergies or complementary portfolios here; are they just trying to monopolize the budget end hotel space?

If you have less competition, the prices will skyrocket. Capitalism needs competitors.

Not just the budget end of the spectrum, but the crappy trashy dirty almost unbearably bad end of the spectrum. Motel 6 beats both of them in many locations.

I would totally agree with that statement.

It is true that both brands’ US presence are suboptimal and very budget. But Choice Hotels’ presence abroad are limited to certain markets. Their coverage in Europe, Middle East, and China are weak. In this sense, the potential merger could be complementary from Choice Privilege perspective. For example, Choice has 9 hotels in Germany while Wyndham has 131.
