Our Verdict
The 6 months of Netflix can be added for existing users and is good for the standard two screen plan. That’s worth $77.94 normally, making the Chromecast cheap if you already have Netflix membership (although Netflix gift cards frequently go on sale). It actually just takes off $77.94 regardless of the plan you have.
If you return the item but have used the Netflix code you get refunded $49.99, so you can basically get the Netflix credit for $40, There is a limit of three, but you can only add one six months of membership per Netflix account so keep that in mind.
I’ve just received the device and set it up. How to receive Netflix credit? The device happily logged into my existing Netflix account, but there is no any mention of the credit. What instructions should I follow?

It turns out necessary to set up the device in the Google Home app to receive the Netflix credit. Setting up with just the remote is not sufficient.
I redeemed Netflix credit, returned the chromecast device and my card was refunded back the full amount back of $89.99. I was expecting to get $49.99 refund. They haven’t clawed back the Netflix credit. It’s still in my Netflix account and have even used one month.
Can you use the device to activate the Netflix offer but then return the device after it’s been used?
I have a couple of questions. I would appreciate if someone can help me out.
1. Will the credit apply to an existing Netflix 4 screen plan. I do not want to change the plan.
2. The plan is held by my cousin and it has his email. The Chromecast will be on a different email. Will this be an issue?
Yes, it will apply a credit $ value even on the highest plan. I think the email difference is fine. You get a redeem email and then sign in to Netflix from there if you already have an account.

2. I do not think it will be a problem. “To redeem Netflix offer, customers must set up an eligible Chromecast with Google TV device and follow instructions to apply offer value.” So long as the instructions do not say “you must use the same email address,” you’re good. I highly doubt that they would require the same email address given the lack of language and difficulty of corroborating.
now that they gave all those youtube people this for free I’m mentally incapable of buying it.
So if I return the device after using Netflix it’s about a $37 MM with Netflix most recent increase of the standard plan.

Can sell on eBay for $60 easily, too.
Listed on ebay for over a week and not one offer. I see a lot of sold ones in the $45 to $69 range. All the higher $ sales are from high volume sellers. I may end up returning for guarantee $50 back.
Very tempted, but if Amex Platinum $20 monthly streaming credit is extended through March 2021, then I will get no value out of the Netflix offer because the Netflix credit Google gives you must be applied by 3/01/2021.
You can apply the Netflix credit the day you receive the code. Just like we apply Netflix gift cards long in advance. Then it gets applied as credit in your Netflix account, and each month they deduct the monthly fee from that credit amount.
Oh, and I just checked out the offer and it says 03/01/2022 … that’s well over a year from now!
I got my refund back after I returned this and instead of a 49.99 credit a got a full refund?!

Just got mine and set it up. With the recent increase in Netflix subscription prices, this just became a better deal. It applied $84 to my account in credit (6 months of $13.99). Great deal!!
Well I did it the day before and my credit didnt get bumped up. SUCKS
