Our Verdict

Card has not been available for some time after changes to the card were announced. I was hoping for a stronger launch offer than 50,000 points to be honest. It was recently possible to get 60,000 points on the Citi Premier for example. I think most people will not be eligible due to the Citi family rule.

One of the main selling points for the Prestige is the 4th night free benefit, but that is being limited to two uses per year in September so that greatly devalues the card.

Applied march 7, still didn’t get the bonus, called them up but they don’t see any bonus for me. It’s my first Citi card.

Can someone tell me how to find out the cost of hotels reserved through ThankYou if I don’t have an active account? The phone number was kind of a brick wall asking me for an account number.

I need to determine whether the cost of certain hotels booked through Thank You is comparable to rates available through my employer. I don’t care if it’s a good deal, or not – only if it compares to theirs. Otherwise, I can’t book it that way and that eliminates the value of 4NF, which is the only justification to me for paying the $495.

If someone has access, an example I’m looking for is Fairfield Inn in Rancho Cordova, CA. What does a single king room go for on a 4 night stay?

Thanks in advance.

I just got bounced all around Citi by phone. None of the different groups can help me. The travel agent can’t even give out hotel information without a credit card account to start with.

I have the card and i can tell you the value isn’t the same. Its less. I don’t recommend redeeming for hotel with your points unless you book directly for the 4th night free benefit

Instant approval. Was also hoping for a better offer, but I have my bonus spend coming up in two weeks.

I’ve been using the Prestige for my mortgage Plastiq payments. I don’t think I’m interested at $495 though. What other cards can I use for Plastiq and mortgage? I tried quite a few and only the City Prestige was accepted for this type of payment.

Gonna get this one. I have a family of 5 so the Priority Pass that includes “all immediate family members” is golden. And I just realized the $250 travel credit is per CALENDAR year so I can double dip on that I hope.

The $250 travel credit x2 will offset the annual fee and I’ll be up $500+ in TY points plus the Priority Pass and possibly the 4th night free redemption (though we usually stay in Airbnbs when traveling as a family).

when is the annual fee charged on the card? How much opportunity if any is there to downgrade before the fee or get a pro rated refund afterward if one decides the benefits don’t justify the cost of the annual fee?

I imagine the AF hits within the first month and then again shortly after 12 months of card membership. I will most likely cancel right at the 12 month mark once I double dip on the travel credit.

Besides the new limits of the 4th free night benefit, isn’t the Concierge still being taken away for booking it as well?
So no hotel status, points accrual, or special rates anymore.

Instant approval for me… a couple weeks after rejection trying to get my 3rd Ink card. (said my business already has the max credit extended to it; recon call yielded same result)

Oh, and I would’ve definitely waited on a better Prestige offer, but already been waiting too long for this card and need to start planning honeymoon. Also, thanks Doc for running my favorite site by a mile.

any data points on retention offers for existing Prestige card holders? i have called a few times between december and now and each time they’ve said they don’t see anything. guess i can call again today now that this new signup bonus is out there.

do i need to ask for a different department when calling? or does the first rep i talk to actually know what they’re doing?

I got $50 and 2500 TYP on my 4th attempt about 3 months ago. Not the best, but it was enough for me to keep it long enough for them to announce the 5x for flights and dining which made it worthwhile for me to keep again. I also have AT&T Access More which makes holding the Prestige more valuable to access transfer partners.

Is it still available for a discounted AF with priority?

We just got our (final) CG relationship bonus. There wasn’t any explanation of it, or how it was calculated, or even a thank you. Just shows up as an ‘adjustment’ along with some other ones for the fact that January is where earnings changed for restaurants from 2x to 5x.

I’ll look in a branch to see if the lower AF variant is possible for CitiGold/Priority members
