Citi Prestige Available For Sign Up – 50,000 Point Bonus

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Citi is offering the Citi Prestige card for sign up again. Bonus is 50,000 points after $4,000 in spend within the first 3 months

Card Details

Our Verdict

Card has not been available for some time after changes to the card were announced. I was hoping for a stronger launch offer than 50,000 points to be honest. It was recently possible to get 60,000 points on the Citi Premier for example. I think most people will not be eligible due to the Citi family rule.

One of the main selling points for the Prestige is the 4th night free benefit, but that is being limited to two uses per year in September so that greatly devalues the card.

Is there an easy way to find out exactly when you closed a card? I canceled my Prestige a while back but don’t recall when.

You could always call Citi to check – I did this and the agent was able to quickly confirm the exact date I closed my Prestige, and also proactively offered me a promotion on my Thank You Premier card – I think it was 5,000 points when I put $500 on the card in three months.

+1 Credit karma is only useful for the casual user. A real churner probably has had a ton of AA personal AA cards, business AA cards and TY cards. It’s gonna be tough to tell which one is which. Obviously a spreadsheet would help in the future.

When I closed my double cash Citi sent me an email the same day confirming it was closed. I would check your inbox. You may have an email from Citi.

I can’t believe they are still hawking the 4NF benefit as something that’s a real perk. It’s nothing that the motivated hotels.com user can’t generally match. All for mass market / chain type of places that are sold via GDS.

Totally agree. I had this card and people always talked about the fourth night being a major perk. I believe I only used it once because I could often, with moderate effort, match or beat what they were offering for 4th night “free”. I cancelled it as a result.

At the very least minimal legwork would significantly REDUCE 4NF savings, especially after it was modified to not exclude taxes.

is the premier available to be downgraded to that new no annual fee card that always give s10 points per dollar that you mentioned in a previous post? i am a big fan that follows all your posts and i saw you spoke about this new no annual fee that makes the 2nd year annual fee 95 dollar cards downgradeable? if you dont mind telling me if you heard that citi allows that

Citi Rewards+ card is available for downgrade/PC. Just did it last week with an AAPS card. Plan on using that one for all my parking meter app charges. Lots of $0.50-$1.50 charges that will actually get me some points finally.

I’m kind of shocked that no bank offers cell phone insurance that covers the full price of a phone. $1200 would be more appropriate.

I’ve been waiting for this, but it looks like I’m going with the Premier instead.

Any referral program with CITI? I wanna get a higher bonus… should I wait or jump on this now?

Now, how to get around the denial reason of “lack of loan installments…”

If they did they usually say correction or write that they update that. Plus you should verify.

Excellent. I’ll take the patient route and wait at least a month to see if any referral, incognito, or better offers come out..

Is it still available for a discounted AF with priority?

any data points on retention offers for existing Prestige card holders? i have called a few times between december and now and each time they’ve said they don’t see anything. guess i can call again today now that this new signup bonus is out there.

do i need to ask for a different department when calling? or does the first rep i talk to actually know what they’re doing?

I got $50 and 2500 TYP on my 4th attempt about 3 months ago. Not the best, but it was enough for me to keep it long enough for them to announce the 5x for flights and dining which made it worthwhile for me to keep again. I also have AT&T Access More which makes holding the Prestige more valuable to access transfer partners.

Instant approval for me… a couple weeks after rejection trying to get my 3rd Ink card. (said my business already has the max credit extended to it; recon call yielded same result)

Oh, and I would’ve definitely waited on a better Prestige offer, but already been waiting too long for this card and need to start planning honeymoon. Also, thanks Doc for running my favorite site by a mile.

Besides the new limits of the 4th free night benefit, isn’t the Concierge still being taken away for booking it as well?
So no hotel status, points accrual, or special rates anymore.

That’s a pretty big deal

Justin

Gonna get this one. I have a family of 5 so the Priority Pass that includes “all immediate family members” is golden. And I just realized the $250 travel credit is per CALENDAR year so I can double dip on that I hope.

The $250 travel credit x2 will offset the annual fee and I’ll be up $500+ in TY points plus the Priority Pass and possibly the 4th night free redemption (though we usually stay in Airbnbs when traveling as a family).

when is the annual fee charged on the card? How much opportunity if any is there to downgrade before the fee or get a pro rated refund afterward if one decides the benefits don’t justify the cost of the annual fee?

Justin

I imagine the AF hits within the first month and then again shortly after 12 months of card membership. I will most likely cancel right at the 12 month mark once I double dip on the travel credit.
