Citi Prestige to be Available for Applications Later this Month

The Citi Prestige card has not been available for signup since August, though Citi assured us that it’ll eventually return. We assumed it would return sometime today, as today there were a host of changes for existing cardholders that went into effect, and the Prestige page does show an ‘apply’ link, but it doesn’t actually work.

We haven’t heard from Citi directly when it’ll become available, but according to TPG it’ll be available before the end of the month, so it sounds like it probably won’t be for another few weeks.

I’m personally nearing my 24 -month Citi bonus date, not sure if I’ll go for Prestige or Premier. I currently hold Prestige, planning on cancelling or downgrading but waiting to first get another bonus so as not to restart my 24 months. Last I recall, Citi will approve you for a second of the same card, so I may be able to get a second Prestige and then cancel the one I have. More likely, I’ll go for the Premier, and after approval, I’ll downgrade or cancel the Prestige.

Does anyone have any knowledge of what would happen if Citi forced me into a product change? Long story short I had a Citi Forward card that was retried and “converted” to a ThankYou Preferred card about this time last year. I did not receive any ThankYou point bonus and I barely use this card as is.

I think I am interested in the Prestige or even possibly the ThankYou Premier. Am I locked out of a new ThankYou card with a bonus until 2020? (not really interested Rewards+)

I’d be careful about the 24-month clock. I’m fighting with Citi right now about them denying my bonus for the Citi Prestige I got in August. I product-changed my previous Prestige in April of 2016 (to DoubleCash). They just sent me a letter saying I’ve had a Presetige card within the last 24 months. I’m planning to call their (horrible) customer service and speak to a manager, but from my dealings with Citibank so far, my chances of success are close to nil. The letter they sent me (about me having another product within the past 24 months) had zero details (no dates, no card numbers, nothing, very vague).

So be careful if you product-changed (doesn’t look like they recognize the product-change or the 24 month clock doesn’t start right away, or something else… Not sure).

Try to speak with the Exec Office in South Dakota if you bona fide have the facts and policy on your side. It’s a pain but they can solve problems emanating from their crummy systems. Product Changes can take several months to get logged in their system though.

Last I heard from this site, downgrades that keep the same account number do not reset the 24 month clock. Is this still considered accurate?

Most DP’s indicated that if you downgrade within the same card family that you kept your account number and the clock didn’t reset. I didn’t chance it with my Prestige, though, got mixed information from Citi reps so I kept it for a 2nd year and plan to take the best available TYP bonus after 24 months.

Any information on sign up bonus? I’ve Citi TY Premier personal invitation, get 60K TY points when I spend 3K in 3 months. Holding on to see what Prestige sign up would be!

Is the Citi premier 60k still available thru referral as of today? I only see 50k.

If I convert another Citi card to the AT&T Access card, will I be bonus eligible when applying for the Prestige Card when available?

Just another datapoint: Citi approved me for a second Prestige (while I had my first still open). This was back near the end of 2017.

Does the 24 month clock restart as soon as you request a conversion or when it actually converts? Since there is about a 2 month waiting period, not sure when Citi will actually count the change. I’ve started the conversion to an AT&T Access card and am wondering if it’s already too late to stop to try to become eligible for the Prestige sooner.
