The Offer

No direct link to offer

  • Citi has sent out some spending offers to Citi Sears cardholders. Here are some of the offers seen:
    • Earn 15x ThankYou points per $1 spent when you spend $750 or more on all purchases between July 1st and September 30th, 2019 (maximum of 15,000 points). Some people have this same deal but only on specific categories.

Our Verdict

Great to see a big offer like this, last few have been fairly weak. Massive offers like this are one of the reasons this is the #1 rated store credit card.

Anybody know how long these offers take to post? I got a small March-April offer that posted in mid May on my June statement.

I got a much better offer for May-June, but I’ve been waiting for it to post and nothing has shown up yet. Fine print says “Please allow 2 billing cycles after the end of the promotional period for the statement credit to be added to your account.” It’s October now and I don’t see anything.

I did some spend for this July-Sept offer so hopefully this one will show up.

hi,  William Charles can you write a post about how the sears typ differs from the regular citi credit card typ? can we combine them and use the same way? thanks!

Once you’ve activated the offer, is there anyway to see it in your account, like you do with Chase or Discover? I don’t see that.

Also, I have the offer for 15x points in gas, grocery, and restaurant, and also an offer for 5x points in ANY category. Do they double dip? If not, do the G/G/R go towards that 15x first? Is the 5x only actually good on non G/G/R categories?

When I’ve had concurrent offers before, I think they double dip. I don’t recall that I had enough spend to make the offers individually. I’ve not found a way to see the offer in my account, but I track it pretty closely and I’ve never had an offer not post correctly. The offers go by the calendar month and not the closing date, but the points seem to post on closing dates. I’ve found that this can create a delay of up to 3 statements getting the points to post.

Thanks for the info! I have a 15x on $500+ in G/G/R up to 10000/month, a 5x on $500-$1000 in purchases total over the quarter, and a 3000 points on $300 in purchases through July. If they all apply, I’m looking at maxing 40k points for $2000 spend over the next quarter, which would be pretty crazy. I’m not going to count on them all applying, but the 30k should regardless.

Nothing directly on the account page, but once you click the link to activate the offer from the email, you can click it again and get a “Your offer has already been activated” message instead which confirms you’re good to go. Hard to tell how much of your spend counts towards the offers though.

I received 10% back in a statement credit on eligible grocery store, gas station and restaurant purchases which total $500 or more (up to a maximum total of a $100 statement credit each month). Anyone know if Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market qualifies for the bonus?

Usually if it shows up as a supermarket or grocery store on other cards, it should work for the Sears one. Not 100% sure about Neighborhood Market though.

Despite the uncertainty, I gave it a try. I am extremely pleased to report my purchases at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market AND Supercenter earned me 10% back for July. I added gift cards at the checkout to get my total spend over $500 for the month.

Has anyone actually combined these points with another Citi account to use the points with transfer partners? I’m concerned about combining the Sears points with my Prestige points because of the expiration dates on points that are transferred in. There’s just not much information available about it, even in the terms and conditions.

I combined with Citi Premier TYP. The TYP earned by this card do expire (I think it’s something like 12/31 of the next year after you earned the points). The premier points doesn’t expire. When I transferred to partner, Citi always transfer the sears TYP first.

Roger How did you combine the typ from sears with those from premier? Can you do it online or do you have to call in?

Anyone else get a survey for this card (via email) about how we would feel if they hypothetically switch it to a different card and what we like most or dislike most about the card? I hope they don’t get rid of it? I hope they leave it as is. Just keep the offers coming.

It’s been discussed a week or so ago that the card will be changing to “Shop Your Way” from the Sears Citi Mastercard. I called and asked and was told that the TYP if active on the account as the current reward can stay once the new card is sent out.

What is the time period for the extra points to post? I activated a 5x promotion for period 3/1/19-4/30/19 and have yet to receive the extra points. I didn’t do the next promotion(10x) because I never received the previous one. I just received the 15x.

They told me it can take up to 2 billing cycles after the promotion ends.

Mine take at least 2 billing cycles, sometimes 3.

For those of you have previously had ‘online’ category for spend bonuses, does anyone have any data points on Amazon reloads? that would be an easy way to clean this one up in one swoop

15 bonus is 16X actually because you still get the initial points.

That’s just insane.
