Original Post 5/8/24:

When searching “Citi Strata Premier” on duckduckgo it’s currently possible it see the full details of the new Citi Strata Premier card (not accepting applications yet). Card details as follows:

  • 75,000 points after $4,000 in spend within the first three months
    • Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier ® or a Citi Strata Premier ℠ account in the past 48 months.
  • $95 annual fee (not waived first year)
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 10x points on Hotels, Car Rentals and Attractions booked through CitiTravel.com
    • 3x Restaurants (including takeout)
    • 3x Supermarkets
    • 3x Gas Stations and ev charging
    • 3x Air Travel
    • 3x Hotels
    • 1x on all other purchases

I got mine few days back. It’s a very thin and flimsy card. I feel like I might break it everything I use it.

So the 48 months should start from when you received the bonus.

Instant denial. Really surprised by this one. They pulled Experian where I only have 2 inquiries in the last 24 months. Currently at 4/24. Over $500k in investments with Citi. A single open credit card with them that has $15k CL and hasn’t been used in the last few years.

Used to have Citi Prestige and Premier but they were closed just over 4 years ago (opened 6 and 5 years ago, respectively).

Hoping to be able to get approved through recon.

The rejection reason will probably come back as “not utilizing your current citi card/cards enough.”

Is there any recourse for that?

Yes. Start using the Citi card that you have.

Does anybody have experience filing a travel protection claim with Citi before they dropped it on the Premier a few years ago? I’ve filed several claims with Chase on my Sapphire cards that were all processed without a hitch; however, I’m hugely skeptical of Citi based on the generally poor customer service I’ve received over the years.

I had an auto claim on my Prestige around 2015 and had no issues. The car had a mandatory insurance which is typical in Europe and I claimed the excess/deductible I had paid while there was a little back and forth about documentations and such, I got reimbursed within about 6 weeks. Hope that helps.

it is probably run by mastercard. Once I had experience with different bank, they flood you with documents needed to process the claim. If you comply with everything it’ll be approved, but the game is overwhelm you so you give up.

how long has it been now since they outsourced their customer service to india? sometime around the pendemic?

for customer support on citibank products it has been a nightmare dealing with them in india, language barrier problems and limited access to what they can actually do which is basically just opening support tickets for you for someone in citibank to fix while you wait.

for customer support on citicards products its still the same indian team but one for cards instead of citibank and it works the same… opening support tickets for actual citibank employes to fix while you wait and pull your hair out.

now, on the thankyou portal side of things for travel support… last time i dealt with them was before the pendemic so im not sure if they are outsourced to india too because they were a completely independent team from citicards before.
before they had direct access to bookings and claims, a lot of changes have happened since then with citi also switching to bookings.com so hope someone else can answer this questing here

one thing ill say tho is that i had to do a fraud claim last year on my credit card and i assume that bypasses the indian office with claim processing happening by actual citi employees and it went though just fine so if travel clams use the same claims automated system where you can bypass customer support it might be fine too, but im just guessing here unless someone else with actual experience on thankyou.com can comment on this

I think it is across few countries. I just called today and agent was Asian probably Chinese with similar issues. Also giving reason to citi was compulsory before it can connect to agent. Citi is always painful with customer service.

no, they are indian and theyve all been trained to hide that fact and i know that because i confront them about it every time i call and they even refuse to admit it and just ignore you while continuing to talk to you with indian accents

i dont actually care where they are from, what i care about is how citi uses them to obstruct themselves away from having to directly deal with their customers as much as possible to a point where they would pay people trained specifically to just patronize you while filling out support tickets…

not to worry i can help, not to worry i am helping, not to worry i want to help, i understand but not to worry because i really want to help, not to worry are you happy that i want to help?

i got locked out of my bank accounts last year and i still have nightmares being talked to like that.
