[Expired] Citi ThankYou Preferred 15,000 TYP – No 24 Month Language Link

This offer has now expired, you can view the best current credit card bonuses here.

Citi has been limiting users to one bonus per brand per 24 months since August. We’ve covered a few no 24 month Citi links recently, such the AAdvantage Platinum Select cards here and here. Now Reddit user Rossbolton87 has uncovered a new one.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Earn 15,000 bonus ThankYou® Points after you spend $1,000 in purchases with your new Citi ThankYou Preferred card within 3 months of account opening.

Citi TYP No 24 Month

Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • No 24 month restriction

Our Verdict

There’s no change in verdict from our previous AAdvantage Platinum Select posts, so I will copy and paste nearly verbatim. This offer does not contain the 24 month language that would exclude you from getting the bonus if you’ve had any other Citi ThankYou card within the last 24 months. In the past, application pages without the 24 month language such as this have successfully resulted in people getting the bonus even if they wouldn’t normally be eligible. But, YMMV.

This will reset the 24 month clock for ThankYou cards (i.e. you won’t be eligible for another ThankYou card bonus within the next 24 months). This won’t last long, so if you’re interested we’d suggest you apply sooner rather than later. As always, these links aren’t for everybody.

You don’t need to close any cards before applying. If you have any questions, chances are they are answered in this post about Citi credit cards.

Also we shouldn’t need to say this but we will: please do not bring attention to this offer by asking representatives if you’re eligible for the bonus or not. Just wait and hope for the bonus tracker to show up or points to post.

If I had a use for TYP and wasn’t working on min spends for about 5 cards right now, I’d think about it. Also, just hit up 2x the Citi AA no 24 month apps. Sigh…this makes me mourn the cancellation of my Prestige and all the value I’ve gotten from it.

Approved. Citi Prestige opened on 8/16.

Most of us who would jump on this are probably waiting on the 60 days for 2x AA apps haha. Still, nice find!

Exactly what i wanted to say.

Have you gotten the AA bonus? Wondering if they are honoring it.

Yes, received the AA bonus after the 1st statement and 3k spend.

I got it on my first card (plus 10k match), got them to agree to extra 10k match on 2nd card but first statement hasn’t closed yet.

Is 60 days for apps or approvals? I was approved for first as plat and denied for 2nd for too many requests for credit. That was just a few weeks ago.

I need a place to park my Thank You points I haven’t touched since getting the points from my Prestige in July. Sounds like as good an opportunity as ever.

You will only have 90 days to use them once you move them from the Prestige. Otherwise, they will expire. Best to transfer them out or use them. See here for details:

Thanks Matt P. I was about to do the same but had forgotten all about the 90 day transfer rule.

How much are they worth?

The points? Depends on what you use them for.

“Thank you for applying for the Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card.

After careful consideration, we are unable to approve your application. You will receive written notification with the reasons for the decision.

Thank you for considering Citi.”

I have had my Experian frozen, besides this I may be declined due to too many inquiries in other credit report. Will wait for the mail and advise.

So if we applied for 2 citi AA card with 8 days in between, we can get this card because it’s a different group being TYP instead of AA, right?

Abey

Not exactly because Citi has a 2 application rule per 60 days so you have to wait 60 days from your first AA application. (Yes im in the same boat here 😉).

Oh. Thanks for this comment. I was about to jump on this one then I realize this 2/60 rule.

Got my second/third AA on Jan 3 and Jan 23, so I guess … It’ll take my a while before I can apply for another Citi card >_<
