[Expired] CVS ExtraCare App: Free Daily Gift 7/5-7/18

Deal has ended, view more CVS deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • CVS is offering a free daily gift via the ExtraCare app from July 5th – July 18th

Our Verdict

It looks like you have one day to claim each daily gift and then it needs to be redeemed by the next day. For example gifts have been:

  • 7/5: ‘CVS Health Pain Reliever 50 ct (excluding gel) Choice of: Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen’.
  • 7/6: Gold Emblem (CVS brand) Gummy Bears

Personally I’d be avoid going to CVS unless I actually needed anything, but if you’re going anyway might as well pick up a freebie.

I used to get that all the time with my Tracfone which used 3G Verizon network. When Verizon discontinued 3G, I was forced to get a newer 4G phone and have had no problems on this phone.

Your odds of dying in a motor vehicle crash over your lifetime is 1 in 106

Your odds of dying after being infected with COVID-19, as a person under 50, is about 1 in 6500. If you aren’t immuno compromised or morbidly obese, the odds are even lower.

Contrary to what you see on CNN and MSNBC, healthy people aren’t dropping like flies due to COVID. The vast majority of deaths are nursing home patients over the age of 80 with 3 or more comorbidities.

Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn (@guest_1010683)
July 6, 2020 12:13

so people over 50, or who are immunocompromised or obese aren’t worth protecting? The problem is you could easily be spreading to those around you without knowing. you should care about that.

Given the choice between:

A- shutting down the entire country, making tens of millions of people unemployed (Current unemployment rate worse than Greet Depression), destroying hundreds of thousands of small and large businesses, keeping millions of children out of school, taking away the freedoms and liberties of over 300 million people for an indeterminate amount of time.

B- letting the disease spread until we reach herd immunity or a vaccine is created, at the expense of nursing home patients already at the end of their lives

Option B seems like a way more logical choice. We already tried locking down for 3 months and it didn’t work.

MisterBill
MisterBill (@guest_1010741)

I think your 1:106 number is bogus and even if it were you’re comparing a number over 50+ years to a
number over less than a year. But no, healthy people aren’t dying in large numbers from CV. But some are.

Adam
Adam (@guest_1010786)

According to the New York Times, the odds of dying in a vehicle related accident in ones lifetime is actually 1 in 103. I understated the risk.

http://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/14/us/opioids-car-crash-guns.amp.html

Also the 1 in 6500 chance of death figure is overstated because that figure presumes you actually get infected. Not everyone will get infected, so your actual odds of dying are way lower than that.

“Also the 1 in 6500 chance of death figure is overstated because that figure presumes you actually get infected.” — Incorrect. COVID’s infection fatality rate is ~0.6%, or 1 in 166. https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/coronaviruse/virtual-press-conference—2-july—update-on-covid-19-r-d.pdf

And apparently the 1 in 6500 thing isn’t even for COVID. It’s for the flu. https://www.wqad.com/article/news/what-are-the-odds-of-dying-from-covid19-and-lightning/526-8596f974-c552-4a7a-ac21-1fdd87cb84da

Sure, COVID is overhyped, but your numbers are false.

Adam
Adam (@guest_1010932)

Unless you are over the age of 75 and / or in a nursing home, you are NOT at a high risk of dying from Covid-19. That’s the whole point. For the vast majority of people, Covid-19 is slightly more harmful than the flu. If you don’t believe me, take a look at Boston.com’s breakout for covid deaths by age and the death rates by age per 100k people in the state of Massachusetts.

https://www.boston.com/news/coronavirus/2020/04/27/massachusetts-covid-19-deaths

It shows that if you are under the age of 60, the risk from Covid-19 is virtually zero, way less than your risk from dying in a motor vehicle accident. At 60-70 years old, your risk is fairly low as well.

Death isn’t the only concern. Many people, including people who were healthy before infection, have serious organ damage, increased risk of clotting and strokes, etc, which are expected to cause persistent problems for the rest of their lives. Many also have massive medical bills.

It would need to be a fantastic freebie item if you want to brave the crowd and virus. Or one could go super early to militate the risks.

I am loving the American Express Business Platinum card benefits right now. I am glad I picked it up all those years ago for my legitimate business.

Hi, I am Joseph and use to be a former MS’er.

The goal is most likely to get you in the store. Yesterday’s was probably ‘CVS Health Pain Reliever 50 ct (excluding gel) Choice of: Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen’ as in the OP.

I agree with Will, not worth it unless you’re going anyway.

It gave me the opportunity to ship it through the app. There is a shipping fee though so not worth it. CVS is literally 2 minutes away from me so if it’s something I need I might just go grab it

Well, it’s good thru Tuesday so you could wait for tomorrow’s freebie to be available and make one trip. Of course that assumes they still have the first freebie available. I was able to get it on Sunday but the shelves around there were hit or miss, lots of stuff OOS.

I agree. It seems a bit silly to drive traffic into your stores. But Staples and OD brought back GC mania so I guess we’re back to normal. And yes, I will be paying them a visit this week. The allure of no-fee GC is too darn strong!!!

You should go buy some empty ink from ebay at <10/c a cartridge and get into the rewards hustle. Adds a lot to the overall value of a trip.
