Our Verdict
It’s a good deal if you can use the ExtraBucks, would be fantastic it was a direct discount but it’s not.
William Charles This is back at $10 Extra Bucks for $50 purchase, still with the 1/household language. Current ad (same link you have) shows, to Feb 19th:

Express
H&M
JCPenney
Wayfair
TGI Fridays
Then the preview Feb 19th – Feb 26th shows
Uber Eats
Wayfair
JCPenney
Bass Pro Shops
Cabela’s
Maybe they do this every week, happened to see tag in store.
Just a warning that the max is $50 across all gift cards (per ExtraCare account). Made the mistake of assuming it was per card, but only got $15 when buying 2 with a message on the receipt that the $50 max had been reached.
This worked for me. I bought a $50 AirBNB gift card. The Extra Bucks did not show up on the paper receipt, but when I checked my CVS app, there it was. $15 in Extra Bucks to use … expires near the end of December. There will be a lot of deals coming up in the new weekly ad, so easy to spend the $15. Thanks for the heads up!
FYI- The $15 extrabucks is only on UberEats GC, not on Uber GC. The $15 bucks expires a month out in December.
They are the same thing and are interchangeable, as both go into your Uber Wallet.
Right, but there are two different GC’s you can buy at CVS – Uber and UberEats. They both credit your wallet, but the Uber cards at CVS won’t get you the $15 extrabucks.
Fyi…the Payce app offers 5% cash back at CVS. Also…PayPal has the $10 cash back on a $20 purchase offer…if you haven’t used it. Even if you did the PayPal deal already…check for it…again. I used it…then it was offered to me a 2nd time. I know for a fact that it works on Gc’s because that’s what I bought with it…the first time. Finally…the Drop app. is currently offering 15 pts per dollar spent both online or in store. I hope this helps someone…Happy Thanksgiving!!
DP: I was at CVS so decided to try this out. Didn’t see anything in the offer link here. I asked the worker for a weekly flyer but he said the store didn’t have any. Bought 50 dollar Uber Eats and received 2 extra bucks on receipt. Nothing loaded on my card. Attempted a 20 dollar purchase after and confirmed no extra bucks were loaded in my card.
Andrew I would reach out to Customer Service. The promo is in the weekly ad under Seasonal, Toys & Gifts, 4th row. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/cvs-purchase-50-in-select-giftcards-get-15-in-extrabucks-ubereats-instacart-airbnb-more/#comment-1493194
I didn’t see the deal in the ad. Is there a link somewhere?
This may be an in-store promo like Staples with workers who don’t know what to scan
iahphx In the ad, under Seasonal, Toys & Gifts, 4th row, look for the Bass Pro Shop card.
Thanks! I found it. Also answers my question as to whether there’s a limit: I see that it is one.
Does anyone know how long I get to use the ExtraBucks I’d earn? Like a week?
Typically you have 45 days.
I’ve never been a fan of the ExtraBucks, probably user error. There’s also a Chase off floating around, 10% up to $5 back.
Celia One thing you can use ExtraBucks for that is not candy or other junk food is canned soup. CVS has a good selection of things like Progresso and Campbell’s Chunky, and the prices are comparable to supermarkets when there is a sale. I have been feeding my wife soup purchased with ExtraBucks for months now.
RM Appreciate the comment. I don’t eat that stuff but I’ll go for that just for the donation. So it prints on the receipt and I can use it right away?
Celia The ExtraBucks from a deal like this usually don’t print on the receipt, but rather attach to your phone number, which you have to enter as part of the transaction. If you don’t already have a CVS account, you will have to open one online or in-store first. And, yes, you should be able to use the ExtraBucks right away. But check the receipt — sometimes they give you additional ExtraBucks on the receipt that you can also use right away.
RM Great, thanks. I do have an account since I give my phone number. I just seemed to recall it was on the bottom of the receipt but never pursued why it wasn’t. So I was right, it was user error 🙂
@Celia, I chase most Extrabucks offers as if you combine them with sales, they make products cheaper than anywhere else. They always show up at the bottom of the receipt. And you can use them right away. Alternatively, if you have the app/online account, you can add them that way too but I prefer paper. Call me old school. 😉 Hope this helps!
Thanks Celia. I’ll not let CVS steal my bucks then
So you can use ExtraBucks for just anything in the store — except guft cards, I’m assuming? And it doesn’t matter whether the item is on sale or not, right?
I’m not a regular CVS shopper but, for some reason, they have been targeting my email account the last month with $4 off coupons, which I assume are the same as ExtraBucks coupons. If I pass by a CVS, I try to run in and buy a can of sale nuts or something with the coupon. Today I bought some snacks with the coupon and the register printed me another $4 coupon, which I see I can load to my phone number. This has become a fun little diversion for me.
I’m travelling overseas, and I could use a couple of deeply discounted airbnb gift cards. I have the $5 off $50 offer at CVS on a few of my Chase cards, so it’s a solid deal with more ExtraBucks. Does anyone know how long I’ll have to spend the ExtraBucks, and whether I could do this deal multiple times?
