Our Verdict

Delta likes to have their cake and eat it too, they don’t publish award charts anymore but they still have sales like this. This deal isn’t even particularly good (e.g Korean is 30,000 miles round trip on Hawaiian & 25,000 on Delta). I guess the plus with this promotion is you get to use up Delta miles before they inevitably devalue them again without notice. Comfort+ might be an appealing option for some as well.

The big benefit here is you can burn MR instead of UR on Korean.

The ATL-HNL prices are 75k for economy and 99k for Comfort+, which may be a decent flash sale for miles – iirc, 90k is the usual basic economy price for most dates – but if you value Skymiles at 1 cpp, it’s not a great cash price.

Scott’s Cheap Flights usually has a Hawaii fare every 2-3 months that’s $300-600.

Relevant note: Delta was advertising on their site recently that they are now offering complimentary meals and drinks for all cabins on ATL-HNL flights

For some people (like me) nonstop is more important then less miles or even an upgraded seat (economy to extra comfort).
Therefore from the Northeast to Hawaii only two airlines fly nonstop. Hawaiian and United. Transfering Amex points to Hawaiian airlines when they have the 20% bonus seems to be the very best deal.

As always, Atlanta is excluded from the cheap pricing. Something needs to be done to stop Deltas monopoly over ATL. We never have any good deals with Delta because there’s no real competition.
