[DoC Exclusive] Free One Year Club 1 Hotels Membership & Additional 10% Off

Update 2: They have agreed to make the deal even better. Until December 18th, 2018 DoC readers can get an additional 10% off all hotel, cruise and car rental bookings when they use promo code DOC10 at check out.

Update 1: Club 1 Hotels has agreed to make the deal even better. Until January 15th, 2019 Doctor of Credit readers can get an additional 5% off all hotel, cruise and car rental bookings when they use promo code DOC5 at check out.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Club 1 Hotels has agreed to give Doctor of Credit readers a one year membership package for free (no credit card required). In addition when booking hotels, car rentals and cruises you’ll earn 4 airline miles per $1 spent. Normally a one year membership costs $99 (without the airline miles plan)

Our Verdict

Membership includes:

  • Earn 4 Airline Miles for every dollar spent on hotels, cruises and car rentals.
  • A $30.00 LuggageFree e-gift card.
  • A complimentary one year subscription to Business Traveler Magazine. (Only available online on in the Club 1 Hotels app)

As always it’s important to make sure you price compare to other online travel agencies to ensure you’re getting a good deal. They do have a best rate guarantee, but that is based on the list price of competing sites and doesn’t include things like stacking discounts with Hotels.com.

How long is the offer good for? In other words, is there an expiration date for last date to join and take advantage of the free year?

Club1Hotels

Hi Howard,
This offer is good till December 31, 2018.

kkjjhh
kkjjhh

how does it work?????

Club1Hotels

It’s simple, you can join and gain access to exclusive hotels rates. There is no credit card required to join and the membership does not auto bill or auto-renew.

Thumbs up on ‘no auto renew’ 👍🏻

Club1Hotels

Is there a particular airline in the list that people consider the best? One that is hard to transfer miles to/hard to earn with usually? Personally I’ll probably pick United since UR transfer is something I try to limit to Hyatt redemptions usually, or Alaska because the value those can usually have…. but I was curious about some of these foreign carriers. Thanks.

I would only pick an account that you have a balance with or a way to earn or transfer miles. Etihad’s award chart is my favorite of the foreign airlines, followed by Virgin Atlantic

United or Alaska are my first reactions as well.

Site isn’t even SSL secured. Use at your own risk

It is, but the link used is just an http one for whatever reason. The site doesn’t have an auto-redirect for https, which isn’t exactly unheard of but should probably be taken care of on their end at some point.

If you’re worried, just switch it to https yourself.

FYI Do not sign up on an iPhone. The “Select Country” list has United States at the bottom and you must slowly scroll the whole list.

Hope a rep sees this and updates the app to allow typing the first letters of the country to filter or throws USA to the top.

Signed up.

The UX looks a bit sloppy: overlapping text and really ugly font. The signup screen asks for your address, phone number, fax number (wtf), and frequent flyer info.

I’m expecting to get a ton of e-mail spam and targeted fax ads after this signup, but anything to support DoC, right?

Ann

Most people don’t even have a fax number, so if you can’t leave it blank, put in a 555 number?

Signed up. Ugh. Nothing works. Cruises website always comes back empty. When I click on “Apts & Homes”, the search just yields Internal Server Error. So yeah – total garbage. But thank you Doc! Not your fault.

Club1Hotels

Hi George,
The Apts & Homes will be live in January.

I’ll give a quick testimonial here. I signed up when one of the Boardingarea bloggers offered this well over a year ago. They never turned off the free trial, so I continue to use it. I do a lot of travel bookings for work and I will say that this has provided some pretty terrific value. The rooms are almost always cheaper on C1H. Some standouts are I booked 3 suites at MGM Grand in Vegas for less than next lowest rate of a standard room and booked 2 rooms in Orlando for $800 (total) less than the next lowest rate. As always, it’s best to look around and I’ve yet to try their best rate guarantee. I think it’s a pretty small operation, but customer service has been good when I’ve had to call/email them.

Do you already earn miles through club1? I dont see any mention of it on the website outside of Doc’s referral.

JL
JL

i’m guessing because this is like an OTA or bulk rate, elite benefits won’t apply at most hotel chains?

Mike L
Mike L

Correct. It’s treated the same as any other OTA in the hotel’s view.

Thanks for the review, appreciate it.
And thanks, DoC. (PS, Doc, why you set my posts to “manual approve”? 🙁

Seems like these would count as “3rd party bookings” yeah? So you wouldn’t earn hotel loyalty points. Seems like a good deal for rental cars and cruises…4x united/alaska is a pretty good trade off for 10x marriott or 5x hyatt if you aren’t brand loyal and don’t care about elite credits.

DOC space I tried doing multiple dummy bookings in order to get the Hilton business 125,000 and $100 statement credit to show up and unfortunately it is not could you please tell Mr. how to do it I’d be very grateful if you did much appreciated and thank you for your time

Moshe

Make sure to do from pc where pop up ads are not blocked…. if doesn’t work try another browser or try using incognito/private

Moshe
Moshe

And btw if you have any other Amex cards you can refer yourself so instead of getting 100$ you’ll get referral bonus which may be even more valuable depending on which card if course

Matthew

How do you know how many miles you will get? It doesn’t say on booking a reservation page.
