The Fine Print
- Offer valid through 9/30/2016 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time, while supplies last.
- To redeem offer, create a new Visa Checkout account, add a valid United MileagePlus rewards number and United MileagePlus Visa card to your new Visa Checkout account via www.visacheckout.com/united, and then complete a single qualifying purchase of $5 or more using your United MileagePlus Visa card with your new Visa Checkout account anywhere Visa Checkout is accepted within fifteen (15) days of opening your new Visa Checkout account.
- Cardmembers who are already enrolled in Visa Checkout with a United MileagePlus Visa card are not eligible for offer.
- Limit one (1) 500 bonus miles award per United MileagePlus Visa card account.
- Allow 6 to 8 weeks from Visa Checkout transaction for delivery of the 500 bonus miles award; your card account must remain open and not be in default to receive the bonus miles award.
Our Verdict
Pretty easy way to score 500 United miles if you hold the card, Visa checkout is accepted on Newegg so you could just purchase a $5 eBay gift card (share any other ideas you have in the comments. Reloading Starbucks should also work, but $10 minimum). You should be able to create a new Visa checkout account, if not you can also close your previous Visa checkout and it should work. The PNC Visa checkout deal for $10 also expires today (June 15th).

Will it work If I had a Visa Checkout account with a different Visa credit card ( not United ) and now added the United card?
Do you think this would work for an authorized user with their own UA account, if I already used it on my card?
Not sure, fine print doesn’t say primary cardholder only, but it does say one per account. Don’t know if authorized user is a new account (but I guess limit of one per United account anyway?)
I just added my card into my current Visa Checkout account and selected my MPE card and hit “Done”. Then it also says get your 500 miles now… Looks like don’t really need a new visa checkout account.
We’ll see, terms say you do.

Opened a new visa checkout from different email, went to wal-mart to buy $5 e-gift card, placed order, order was cancelled minutes later, will call tomorrow to find out why, first time I did not completely verify my visa checkout account even though the first email stated “By opening this email you have confirmed your account”. When I checked my visa checkout account online it hadn’t been reflected, so I confirmed it and ordered again on wal-mart. Again, cancelled after a few minutes. Not sure why but wal-mart if I can rectify the issue seems to be the best $5 option.
