eBay gift cards again require Paypal login in order to use them. Around a year ago, eBay began allowing gift cards to be used without login (though the terms were never officially updated with that information). Reader superman lets us know that within the past month or so they switched it back to how it was prior, and now require Paypal login in order to use a gift card.
It’s odd that they’d go back to that given their increasing split from Paypal. In any case, it’s worth a heads up. Note, the gift cards are still tied to the eBay account, not the Paypal account. Paypal is just used as a sort of verification, I guess.
I’m unsure if eBay promo codes now also require Paypal login or if those can still be used without logging in. (Keep in mind, you can have your eBay and Paypal accounts linked, so you won’t necessarily have to manually login.)
