eBay Holiday Offer: Fee-Free Selling via eBay Valet, 12/26-12/27

eBay Valet

Launched in the summer of 2014, eBay has a service called eBay Valet which will sell your stuff on eBay and spare you the troubles of listing. Instead of selling the item yourself, just print off a prepaid label and send it into eBay; they’ll worry about listing, selling, and shipping the item to the buyer.

The standard cost for the service is as follows:

  • Sale price of less than $50 – 40% fee
  • Sale price of $50 to $200 – 30%
  • Sale price of more than $200 – 20%

The Offer

Direct Link

As a holiday promotion, eBay is offering to sell your items without taking a commission fee. This offer is only valid if you input the order and print out your shipping label on December 26th or 27th. You’ll have until January 3rd to ship the items.

What’s especially surprising about this offer is that not only will you save the added Valet fees that are usually assessed, but there’s apparently no fees at all. Typically, eBay sellers pay up to 10% to eBay and another 2.9% to Paypal; under this promo, there won’t be any fees at all.

Final Thoughts

For people like me who aren’t into reselling merchandise, the idea of not having to deal with buyers and not having to worry about shipping out on time is enticing.

Hard to know that you’ll get top dollar when delegating the task of selling to the Valet and a control freak would not be able to deal with it. Without the added fees, I’d be willing to take the risk.

It’s unclear if anything is stopping a big eBay seller from shipping off huge quantities of goods and saving the sellers fee, but most real sellers won’t be interested in giving up control over their business in that way.

So anyone know how this works? The source article doesn’t give any clear details and all the other articles on Google just refer back to the same wishy washy text on businesswire… The eBay Valet site itself doesn’t say anything about this either – nor does the eBau Holiday specials page.

Yes, I read over the linked article and nowhere does it say anything about sending stuff from home. Are you sure about this or can you link to a page that DOES say such a think? I can’t find that offer anywhere.

I see “people can return them to the North Pole by visiting pop-up selling stations in select Westfield shopping centers on Dec. 26 (Boxing Day) and Dec. 27. Equipped with everything you need, people can list items themselves or enlist professional sellers from the eBay Valet service”

Seems more to me like people can do this without fees by going to select Westfield shopping centers but I don’t see any mention of doing this online.
