The Offer

Amazon Cash is a new program which allows us to add funds to an Amazon account in a retail store like CVS, Gamestop, Speedway, Sheetz, Family Fare and more. As part of the full rollout, Amazon has a special offer:

  • Get free $5 Amazon credit toward a future purchase when you add $25 to your Amazon account in-store using the Amazon Cash program

Simply get your Amazon Cash bar code (have it open on your phone or take a picture of it or a print out of it), have the store scan it using their scanner, enter the amount you want to add (e.g. $25) and pay as you normally would. After you add $25 or more to your Amazon Balance using Amazon Cash, you will receive an email confirming that the $5 credit has been added to your Amazon account.

The Fine Print

  • Amazon Cash transaction must occur between 12:01 am (PT) on August 2, 2017 and 11:59 pm (PT) December 16 31, 2017. January 31st, 2018
  • Offer limited to the first time a customer uses Amazon Cash.
  • Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com (look for “sold by Amazon.com” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
  • Shipping charges and taxes may apply to the full value of discounted and free promotional items.
  • Offer limited to one per customer and account.
  • The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $5 off products sold by amazon.com.
  • You will receive an e-mail from Amazon that indicates the dollar amount of the promotional credit and that the dollar amount of the credit has been added to your customer account.
  • Promotional credit expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) December 31, 2017.
  • Amazon reserves the right to modify or cancel the offer at any time.
  • Offer is non-transferable and may not be resold.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your order.
  • If any of the products or content related to this offer are returned, your refund will equal the amount you paid for the product or content, subject to applicable refund policies.
  • If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
  • Unless an Amazon Gift Card is the stated benefit of the promotion, promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.

Our Verdict

Launch offer was a $10 credit for a $20 load. Unless you really need the $5 Amazon credit I’d honestly just wait for a better deal to come back, I think we will definitely see higher than $5 in the future. Still, I know some readers will just want to bank this $5 savings going into the shopping period. As always we list all of the ways to save on Amazon here.

The T&C mention an email will be sent when the $5 credit is ready. How long does it take for this email to arrive? I haven’t received any emails for loading $25 into Amazon Cash.

wouldn’t taking advantage of the prior $10 offer negate the ability to get the $5 bonus this time?

If I took advantage of the $10 credit a couple months ago, I can still do this one, correct?

Too much work for a paltry $5.
I’ll wait for a better offer.

FYI Above the fine print section there is a paragraph with the initial launch offer of $10 credit after $20 load. It likely will confuse some readers.
