The Offer
- Sell your first item on eBay and receive a $50 eBay coupon for making $25 in sales.
The Fine Print
- Must activate offer by clicking “Activate Offer”
- First-time sellers only. (Must be a first-time seller on any account so opening up a second eBay account would not be allowed by the terms of the deal.) The system is giving the offer out to active sellers as well. Presumably, those accounts won’t receive the $50 credit.
- Take screenshots of the offer and the activation so that you’ll be able to prove it if there’s a problem.
- Must list item between now and June 30, 2015.
- Item must sell by July 7, 2015.
- Total of $25 in sales required.
- Coupon will have an unknown expiration date.
Our Verdict
This is a real killer deal, perhaps from the best deals of the year. If you don’t have anything to sell, simply buy yourself a $25 Walmart or Exxon gift card and sell it for $25. In my experience, this will sell very easily. Or buy a $30 gift card and sell it for $28 if you really want it to sell fast.
Ebay allows the sale of physical gift cards. Be sure to ship it with tracking (costs $1.93). See the eBay section in The Complet Guide to Selling your Unwanted Gift Cards for more details.
The deal does not appear to be targeted. It’s apparently available for anyone who is a first-time seller.
If I hadn’t sold on eBay before, I’d be jumping on this offer. I’d probably take a ~$7 loss on eBay/Paypal fees and on the shipping fees, but it would be well worth it for the $50 eBay coupon which I’d use to buy third-party gift cards or even (likely) eBay gift cards.
