- Starbucks is giving users Gold status after just one purchase. Normally you have to spend $150 to earn 300 Stars to get gold. This status will last for one year
The Fine Print
- Make a purchase with your registered Starbucks Card/app from 12/4/17 to 12/31/17 at a participating Starbucks® store and attain Gold level for one year.
- Offer excludes members already at Gold level.
- Excludes alcohol and Starbucks Card purchases.
Our Verdict
They offered gold status for a single purchase earlier this year as well. Last year when they offered it, it also extended to existing users. It looks like this also applies to existing users that currently have green status but does not apply to those with gold status already. Gold status isn’t that exciting basically means you get free reward for every 125 Stars and you get two stars per $1 spent (plus they run other bonuses). Some of the promotions are for gold only as well.
I don’t need to sign up for this promotion anywhere do I? I simply use my card or the app to make a purchase and I automatically get gold status? Thanks in advance.
That would be the most niciest thing done cause me my daughter and wife love starbucks and I have a refillable card for Starbucks that would make my daughter so happy. God bless
the main issue here is that gold status doesnt include a metal card nor priority pass select. it should at least include Starbucks Lounge access. they need to introduce a $450 AF gold card that will give me express lane privileges so that i dont need to stand in line with buncha worthless plebs. either that or free breakfast is fine too.
When everyone has gold it means nothing.

Which one is it?
Both? Membership starts at green level. You don’t have to be new to starbucks membership to get the free upgrade to gold.
