Full 50% Rebates on Grandfathered Amex Platinum Business Cards Finally Coming Through

The full 50% rebate on grandfathered Amex Platinum Business cardholders is now coming through. First, the 35% will post – about a month after the purchase. Then the extra 15% will post – a bit later.

Earlier this week we reported on an issue grandfathered 50% customers were seeing that they were not getting the full rebate, only the current 35% rebate. Now, those cardholders are seeing the extra 15%, bringing it to a full 50% rebate.

Keep in mind that it’ll take a week or two after the initial posting for the extra 15% to post. So far, it’s only posting for those who booked the first few days of June.

It’s not clear if this delayed points posting was done intentionally or if they fixed the issue due to complaints. In any case, expect it to come in two separate lumps going forward.

FYI I was wondering when the grandfather ends and called CS, it ends June 6th 2018 (which is the date they dropped to 35%)
So we have some time before the year of grandfather finishes.

June 14th charge had 35% rebate on July 15th. Expecting the remaining to come in the next 2 weeks. Definitely seems to be the norm now.

I used my card to book a flight on May 20th. On June 20th, 50% were placed back into my account. It was not broken up into increments of 35% and 15%. Is it doing that now? I also booked a flight with the card’s points on June 30th and am waiting until July 30 or so, for my rebate. Are you saying now they have since started putting the rebate back in the two increments percentages? Will I have to call as well or will they go in automatically? I am hoping that I get the 50% all in one rebate. I have been grandfathered in, luckily until the 1st of 2018 or thereabouts so I will continue to take advantage until then. This is a fantastic use of points and the best thing they have come out with, along with the 5x airline spend.

They corrected it for me on the phone when I noticed only 35% was given last week and now it looks like they just issued 15% again. Sweet, I’ll take 65% of my point back! $1500 worth of flights for 52,500 MR points..

I thought about that, but the rep on the phone just adjusted it manually (added the points) after they had me on hold for about 10 minutes (presumably getting guidance and permission from a manager). It didn’t even cross my mind that there would be a blanket adjustment until DoC posted it. Fingers crossed they don’t claw it back.
