I haven’t received the bonus after 14 business days. The CSR said that since I am the grandchild of a veteran and not a dependent, I was unable to receive the bonus. Maybe I’ll contact another to see.

Is there a way to join NCFU after getting recently declined as my employer did not fall in Select Employee Group (SEG).

Chuck This is now a referral offer as well. $25 for the new member and $25 for the current member. Can we post links somewhere?

Chuck Thanks. But it turns out that it’s not as simple as I thought. You need to refer the person and they need to enter your access number and last night. Unless someone knows how to get a link that can be posted.

I’m not seeing a page saying the referring member gets $25 in my NFCU login. They have had referral offers before, but they had in the terms the new member had to be a direct family member, or, someone in the same household. I never felt comfortable enough to lie for my Internet friends.

I got an email from them today titled “$25 for You, $25 for Them”

Refer an Active Duty servicemember, veteran, DoD civilian, DoD contractor or their dependents for a new Navy Federal membership during Military Appreciation Month. You’ll get $25 and they will, too!*

Offer valid online May 1-June 1.

I’d share the link but it has my name in it.

SO and I have had our accounts since the 80’s and 90’s… no such e-mail for us yet. 😏🙄

I just want to make sure this isn’t targeted.

Good question. My wife got the email but I did not. I tried removing the piece of the URL with her name in it and the site still came up with her name. It appears that the link is tied to the spcific user.

How nice… guess SO and I, our combined 50 years of membership is all we need. Not surprised.

Last e-mail we got from them was last week, “Personalize Mother’s Day with a Gift Card”, so I know we are on their mailing list. Double-checked SPAM folders too.

Deal is back

$25 for new membership
$25 when You Open a Special EasyStart℠ Certificate (3.5% APY)

Note the requirements for the EasyStart Certificate. Not clear what Navy Federal considers a direct deposit. I suppose it could be worth getting downgraded to get the $25.

4 Limit one Special EasyStart Certificate and one $25 Special EasyStart Certificate bonus per member. The Special EasyStart Certificate has a $50 minimum balance and a $3,000 maximum balance. Additional deposits are allowed at any time, subject to the maximum balance. Certificate owner(s) age 18 and older must have Direct Deposit of Net Pay (DDNP) or payroll allotment and a Navy Federal checking account within 90 days of the certificate issue date. If these requirements have not been satisfied by the 90th day, your Special EasyStart Certificate dividend rate will be reduced to the prevailing dividend rate of the 12-month EasyStart Certificate for the remainder of the certificate’s term. To qualify for the $25 Special EasyStart Certificate bonus, certificate must be opened May 1, 2020 through June 1, 2020. If a Share Special EasyStart Certificate is opened, the qualifying bonus will be credited to your savings account, then transferred to the Share Special EasyStart Certificate. If either an IRA or ESA Special EasyStart Certificate is opened, the qualifying bonus will be credited to the IRA/ESA Special EasyStart Certificate in the form of a dividend and will not be reportable as a contribution. Account must be in good standing for credit to be processed. Bonus will be processed within 8 weeks of initial DDNP posting. Navy Federal reserves the right to end or modify this offer at any time. Penalty for early withdrawal. Members should consult a tax consultant or obtain legal advice regarding any tax implications related to the dividend. Taxes related to the bonuses are the member’s responsibility. Navy Federal does not provide tax advice. Other restrictions may apply. ↵

I just wanted to add a DP. NFCU website offers $5000 CC funding.. at least when I applied it did. I used my Discover card to fund it fully. However, I was only charged $250. I also got an email asking if I had authorized a charge to NFCU. So I don’t know if it was the CU that pulled $250 or if somehow Discover only allowed a $250 purchase..? I’ll try to follow up if I get anymore info.

I am new and have recently opened 3 accounts! Thanks for all the support and putting this together everyone! What an amazing group effort. I haven’t found if it is possible to move money out of the account to somewhere else and not be penalized. Online or in-person is fine. For instance, my $200 chase bonus came in yesterday. The account is 3 months old. Can I just send all the money out and leave in $0.01 to keep it open without penalty?

I only asked because I had purposely done this years ago with a PNC checking account. I just left it at 1 penny and never got any fees. I didn’t think they could legally charge you a fee and make you go negative. I was hoping to use this money elsewhere ASAP. Do the majority of you leave it in the full 180 days and then just close out and move the money?

Their savings/CD rates may not be the best at the moment, but at times they really are.
