The Offer

Stop&ShopGiantMartin’s (p11)

  • Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have a coupon offer offering $10 off your grocery purchase when you purchase $50 in select happy gift cards

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 12/12/2018

Our Verdict

It looks like it’s possible to effectively get $40 in groceries for $100 in spend. Here’s how:

  • Clip the coupons you want to use from this deal
  • Purchase two $50 gift cards from this deal and $20 in groceries (these groceries will become free)
  • You’ll receive another $20 in groceries on your receipt as part of this deal

This will only work today and tomorrow as tomorrow is when the other deal dies. Make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on all grocery store purchases.

Just a note that based on past experience, S&S e-coupons mostly activate overnight after clipping and so will not work today. So if at all possible wait till tomorrow unless you have a good CS who you can request for the credit if the ecoupon does not work.

Also not sure if this will work, but if you already have a $20 off coupon it could be submitted as well since your total is $120 before coupons and $40 could in theory come off with you ending up paying only $80 for the $100 in GC plus $20 in grocery. Someone on another board said this would work, but I am not sure myself. Note that when scanned the $20 coupon will ring up as 0.00 off and they have to hit total to really see if it came off or not. If it did not, then at that point you can ask it back.

Just to clarify, when you say purchase 2 gift cards from this deal, you mean 2 different types of happy gift cards. If you purchase the same type of happy card, you will only get $10 off and not $20.

Do we need to make two separate transactions or can we do two fifty gift cards in a single transaction???

Last time around, my va Martin’s manager counseled me that it was limited to one $10 Happy coupon towards groceries per single transaction. (i got around that by doing several transactions….. bit of a hassle…. ymmv)

ps, and yes, I’ve had success buying gc’s at HD with the “happy guy” card — and also at BB&Beyond w/ Happy Bride. (even did a split transaction at the latter — w/ mgr help)

According to the printed weekly ad that I have, the $20 printed coupon is good until 11/31.

“VIA Print Receipt (Coupon Expires 11/31/18) “

But on the coupon itself printed out at the register it says good until 11/29. So YMMV. (there is no 11/31, November only has 30 days)

Good to know even though I am going to turn around and use the receipt in another transaction and buy another $20. I don’t live close to Stop and Shop.

So the double dipping is only good today, and only if you do the follow up purchase with the generated coupon today as well.
