Update 6/2/23: New code YAYSUMMER
The Offer
Direct Link to offer (contains our affiliate – you might want to use a shopping portal instead)
- Giftcards.com is offering a 5% discount in virtual Visa gift cards when you use promo code SUMMER or SUMMER23.
The Fine Print
- Max $30 discount
- Visa e-gift cards only
- Valid 5/29/23 – 6/17/23, while supplies last
Our Verdict
This offer comes up periodically, but usually works on the $250 denomination. This time it’s only working for the $100 denomination which makes it not very interesting given the $5.95 processing fee. You can buy six $100 Visa e-gift cards and get the full $30 discount. There will be a fee of $35.70 which is mostly offset with the $30 discount.
Stack with a shopping portal for up to 2.1% back. I’m not seeing the promo code mentioned yet shopping portals, but it can’t hurt to click through and use that instead of our above-mentioned affiliate link. And check your Citi Merchant Offers for an additional 1.5% back offer.
There’s also a 15% discount from Giftcards.com on AutoZone, PetSmart, and JCPenney.
Hat tip to GC Galore
Back with SPOOKY5. Chuck William Charles
Code SUMMER is now 10% off $100. A bit better once you add on a few more percentage points for credit card and portal rewareds.
Thanks, posted now separately https://www.doctorofcredit.com/giftcards-com-save-10-on-visa-egiftcards-100-denomination-only-promo-code-summer23/
These cards are pretty useless, can’t be used on Fluz, PayPal, Slide. Only Amazon
The last round of GCs were working for me on slide
How do you liquid and pay yourself on fluz & slide?
if you have a Discover Miles in the first year it’s an OK deal. 3% after the 12 months on 6 100.00 cards. 625.70 – 5% =603.91 x 3 % =18.11, plus TCB at 2.1% = 12.68. So if I am correct (somebody please check) you can still net 30.00 + change. These cards have worked for me on utility bills (NYSEG and Veoila water plus takeout food )via telephone order and pay over the phone. I use the leftover $ to add to Amazon or the utility. But Comcast does not accept these payments as of a few months ago.
Do you know you can also get 3% back paying bills and making purchases directly with that card?-:)
making purchases. .yes 3% at end of 12 months. But paying bills, ill check it out THANKS
You aren’t factoring in the cashback lost that you could have earned on your credit card when you are spending down the gift cards. Basically, any credit card cashback should not be included in your calculation.
Capital One (not capital one shopping) offers 3% cash back on Giftcards.com, although it may differ by persons.
Only $5 off with JB’s inflation? Lol, this deal is sh*t. I don’t want to make this political, but please don’t vote the r*tard JB in office again. He dumber than a motherf*cking stump.
Sir, This Is A Wendy’s.
Pot meets kettle.
He maybe is dumb, but at least he is a human being. On the other hand, any street rats are definitely far better than the two leading creatures in your “Party”.
Human being? Your reasoning is pure genius, even beats the Chewbacca defense.
lol, but he gave you your 9.62% i bonds that you loved so much
& flexible T Bills over 5% for a few weeks
and 2.19 per gallon gas and iceberg lettuce for 1.59! And now no red grapes in stores, if you can find them it’s over 3.50 lb!!!
I’ve gotta go take a Trump and wipe my Santos.
Agree with others here, not going to participate in this deal. They are clearly testing the waters to see if they can get away with worse deals. These prepaid cards are being restricted more and more places anyway. Not going to support Visa charging purchase fees for these cards and then on top of it limiting more and more where they can be used. Even if you are trying to meet spend quota for credit cards it becomes pointless to do these deals when they are basically break even and you can reliably use them at less and less places.
I’m almost exclusively buying Mastercard gift cards only now because I can use MasterCard at more places.
I personally think that the card issuers should be required to publish a list of restricted MCC codes/transaction types. I think it is false advertising to suggest that these can be used anywhere that regular cards are accepted but then in the background be declining several different transaction types.
lewis You are right. P2 has run into completely unforeseeable declines with these VGCs, like online clothing retailers and bus tickets. Fortunately, I can still use them for big ticket items like tax payments, utilities and insurance.
Totally agreed. The same applies to e-Amex gc deals, they cant be used in digital wallets like apple pay, paypal, etc. I will stop patronizing these companies unless they change their shady practices
I had different experience. I can only use Amex egc in store using Apple Pay. After I deplete this one, I won’t buy amex egc anymore. It was declined everywhere over the internet and can not be added to PayPal. This specific card seemed to have a fraud flag. Even after I called customer service, and they said they removed the fraud restriction, it still wouldn’t work online.
Definitely a pass. I’ll wait to pick up VGCs at Staples this week.
(Still appreciate y’all posting this though!)
I can buy a $500 VGC for cheaper just about anywhere around town. Hard pass.
very disappointing
Pass. We seen way better.
