Great Bridge Group To Shut Down

Great Bridge Group (a market research company that paid users to link their credit cards to view their spending habits) has sent an e-mail out today to all registered users announcing that they will be closing down and opening a new site. The full e-mail can be viewed below:

Dear Great Bridge member,

We are in the process of making some exciting improvements and updates to our website experience. As part of this process, we will be launching a new website, and the Great Bridge website will no longer be active.

As of today, we no longer will be collecting data for any card(s) connected to your Great Bridge account. You will still have access to your Great Bridge account and the website until Wednesday, April 30th. On May 1st, the Great Bridge website will be closed. You will receive your remaining rewards balance in the 7-10 business days following May 1st.

Your contributions and feedback over the past two years have been extremely helpful as we have shaped our vision for the future. Thank you! We will return soon with our new site, and we hope you’ll join us again. In fact, if you do, we’ll have a “welcome back” bonus waiting for you. Stay tuned for more information as we prepare for the launch of our new site. If you have questions in the meantime, you can reach us at [email protected].

Thank you for your support,
The Great Bridge team

Our Thoughts

I’m not terribly surprised that Great Bridge Group is shutting it’s doors, they still have a lot of beta members earning at a rate of 1% (the second wave got 0.5% and up until closure it was down to 0.1%). This wasn’t sustainable, previously they had started shutting down accounts which was leading to a lot of backlash and negative press for the company.

The name Great Bridge Group also didn’t instill any confidence in consumers which would’ve also led them to having a database of information that was extremely self selecting (generally those on low incomes, extremely frugal or those wanting to make an extra income through methods such as manufactured spending).

I think you’ll see Great Bridge Group relaunch shortly under a new name and different earnings structure. It’ll be interesting to see what “welcome back bonus” they offer.

Very insightful thank you for sharing your thoughts. I work as an analyst for a digital advertisement company and wonder how these companies impact the landscape of digital advertising. If theyre successful in delivering privacy protected data at competitive prices theyll be important players helping deliver persoanlized ads to the digital consumer
