[Expired] Green Chef: 60% Back On Rakuten + 15% Chase Offer

Update 7/3/22: Available again at 60%.

Update 2/21/22: Up from 60% to 65% now. Hat tip Marianne (Note, readers mention another option of going through Capital One portal or the Venture card for $40 or $45 which might be a better deal.)

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Green Chef currently has two offers that stack to make it extremely cheap. Green Chef is a meal kit.
    • Rakuten: 60% back
    • Chase/BofA offer: 15% back

Our Verdict

You also get free shipping and $130 off when going through Rakuten. If you do the biggest meal plan (4 meals for 6 people) it works out to $1.77 per serving after the Rakuten/Chase offers.

Did this with TCB a few weeks ago, did not track. The best offer for right now is 20%off on a WF card. Might try Rakuten too.

William Charles  Chuck Rakuten is back at 60%, should still be stackable with the 15% Chase Freedom offer (expires in 3 days)

Any Datapoints on this Rakuten offer triggering with a reactivation of a previous account?

I tried greenchef when the cashback made the cost negative.
The meals were better than expected, the flavors were great.
Prep took slightly longer than the 25 minutes they suggested, but it was straightforward and not hard.
The portions were too small for me; I ordered the 3 meals in a week for 2 people, and the 2 portions together were a good size for just me to eat. So, don’t count on actually feeding 2 people from the 2 people option, unless you add your own appetizers or sides to pad it out.
I wouldn’t get them at full price, but if they’re cheap, free, or better than free, they’re definitely worth a shot.

If you’re planning to only get one week of meals before you cancel, you can mark the 2nd week(and subsequent weeks as well) as “skip” before the 1st week ships, then cancel when the first week ships. That way you can give yourself a little extra time to cancel without extra charges.

After cancelling they’ve been sending me discounts if I resub, latest one was $120 off(spread over 5 weeks).

100% agree with your review. The food is good. The prep is NOT 20 minutes. And the portion size is wayyyyy too small. We had to add significant food. We are not overweight. And we are older…..so for a young person it would be way too small.
That being said. It was super cheap when I ordered it so no regrets. Would never pay sticker price.

It never takes the time they claim on the recipe, usually double that for me. Still not bad when the food is almost free.

Is the 60% just for the first box? If not how long does it last

I’m not understanding the process of how to stack with a Chase card. I think you can go through either the Rakuten portal or Capital One Shopping portal and get a certain deal on Green Chef. But then, how does using a Chase card to pay for the product give an extra 15% discount? I have a Chase Freedom credit card and have looked online at my account, but I see no mention of a Green Chef discount. Can someone tell me specifically how to get the discounts to stack?

Chase Deals vary by card and individual. Here’s my Green Chef/Home Chef/Sunbasket offers right now:

Chase Sapphire Preferred P1: 15% off / none / none
Chase Sapphire Preferred P2: none / 20% off / $10 off
United Explorer P1: 15% off / none / none
United Explorer P2: no deals on kits
Southwest RR Plus: 15% off / 20% off / none
Freedom Unlimited: no deals on kits
Ink Business Cash: no deals on kits

Methinks you need more Chase cards.

“how does using a Chase card to pay for the product give an extra 15% discount? ”

Chase offers work the same as Amex if you’re familair with Amex offer.

You have to have a Chase card with the offer. To get the offer you log into Chase website then find their offers and then activate the offer. Then when you use the card in quesiton to pay for the purcahase you automatically get their % back. There is no portal with Chase offers.
