The American Consumer Council is a non profit which was created back in 1987 to help improve financial literacy rates. A lot of credit unions require you to be employed by specific companies or live/worship/study in a specific area to be eligible to join. Some also allow you to become a member if you are a member of one of their sister organizations. The ACC is one of the most popular of these sister organizations.
American Consumer Council (ACC) Promo Code
Usually it costs $5 per year to join the ACC per year, but you can get this reduced to $0 by using a promotional code. On the application page you’ll see a field for the promo code to be entered (pictured below). Simply enter the following without quotes: “consumer”. This will waive the $5 fee to join.
If you can afford it, please consider paying the $5 yearly fee.
