Our Verdict

I hate the promotions that require two stays before they start kicking in, but at least elites can get 2,500 points for their first stay. Triple points is more generous than we normally see, but still not as aggressive as I might have expected given the current conditions.

3x Hyatt points is the best return on cash stays so far from any program. Roughly 25% back, and that’s before you figure in elite and CC bonuses. An Explorist charging to World of Hyatt Chase would get 20 points back per dollar spent, a pretty good return.

Your headline is ambiguous. Needs to be fixed.

This sounds like a good deal. Cynically it makes me concerned about a devaluation.

I think it’s an excellent promotion.

You could book a Cat 1 for 5k points for Stay 1. Then you’d get 2,500 back, along with an Elite Night Credit towards Milestones since status is already renewed.

As far as the Triple Points I think that’s amazing. Usually you’ll only see 3x at HH or HP during these promos.

Hyatt is likely feeling out the Market, they’re seeing how this offer does to formulate an offer for Q4. Since people already have requalified for their status with the extension a lot less people will be traveling.

Lastly a lot of Hyatt properties are running concurrent offers of a 3rd/4th night “Free” or 20-30% off stays of 2+ nights. So combining offers helps a lot as well.

It shows as “paid” stays. That does not seem to included payment with points. Otherwise, I agree.

MickeyMouse  William Charles Does this work for award stays? The fine print says the 2500 points promo is only for eligible stays, and that “eligible stays” are stays where your pay an “eligible rate”.

Yes, Award stays do count. If you click the link, go to the FAQ and see question 5.

“ 5. What is considered an eligible stay?
For the purpose of this offer, an eligible stay is defined as any stay at a participating hotel where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award for at least one night of their stay. Back-to-back nights at the same hotel will be considered one eligible stay. See complete terms and conditions on worldofhyatt.com for a list of participating M life Rewards and Small Luxury Hotels destinations. Only eligible stays after registration will qualify. Only stays with checkout dates on or prior to September 15, 2020 will qualify.”

That’s why the FAQ is there to clarify.

There are separate FAQs for the two offers (3x vs 2500), with separate numbering. The question 5 you are quoting is for the 3x offer. The 2500 offer doesn’t say “qualifying stay”, it says “paid stay”. So unless you can show us something else, award stays don’t get you 2500, it’s just that if you mix an award night with paid stay for a 2nd stay, then that will qualify. (Obviously, if you have a purely award night with no expenses, there’s nothing to earn 3x on.)

Scroll 2/3 of the way down through FAQ and you see:

World of Hyatt Targeted Bonus Point Offer

1. How do I participate in the promotion?

Members who were selected for the offer, must register for the promotion between June 8, 2020 and August 31, 2020, and then complete a qualifying paid stay after registration at participating properties between June 15 and September 15, 2020 to participate. Eligible members can register here or by calling your nearest Global Contact Center.
