IHG Allowing Free Point Transfers For Diamond Elites & Business Members

IHG is now allowing Diamond elites and business members to to transfer points between accounts for free. Normally there is a $5 charge per 1,000 points.

eginning December 6, 2023, Diamond Elite and IHG Business Rewards members may transfer points free of charge. For all other Members, the Member authorizing the transfer will be charged $5 US per 1,000 Points transferred, payable via valid, accepted credit card or approved payment method.

The business enrollment link can be found here. You need to have been a business member for 30 days before point transfers will be available. There is no fee to become a business member currently so this is a great way of moving orphan points around without a fee.

P1 is Diamond + Biz
Try to transfer points after 30 days from P2 to P1, still got fee.
Try it this weekend (2/4) again no fee show up on P2 account, so start the transfer of 160K.
160K deposited to P1 account without any fee

I can’t log in. It shows: Something Went Wrong. Please check your login information and try again. It worked once and when I try to re-log in, I can’t. I tried my wife’s, same. I can log in just fine to IHG to my accounts. It worked once for my account but not any more. I tried different browsers and the result is the same. It shows: IHT One Regards #. I think it worked with my user id when it works once. Then I tried with my user id or rewards number, no luck.

Is anybody seeing the same issue?

I haven’t had any problem logging in. Still showing a fee when I try to transfer points though (my account is both Diamond and enrolled in Business Rewards…)

Question: can one have both personal account and business account? Also, is there a limit to number of points one can buy? Can both account buy 500,000 points and transfer to one or another?

business rewards is an optional add on to your personal account, it’s not a separate account.

It’s still wanting to charge me. Has anyone actually gotten a free transfer yet, and if so, how?

Would you provide the link that you did?

I wanted to transfer my husband’s points (platinum and business rewards member) to my account (diamond and business rewards member). No matter what I did, fee was not waived.

That’s great! Could you please provide the link you used for the transfer? I’m Diamond but am still being charged.

I have been an IHG Business Reward member for a long time but I still get charged $5 per 1000 points transfer. Does anybody know what’s wrong? Thank you.

So anyone who holds the Chase IHG business card can do this for free?

No, IHG Business Rewards is a separate program unrelated to any credit card. https://www.ihg.com/onerewards/content/us/en/business-rewards/home

It seems that if I click on transfer points from the text link on the points page, I get the free transfer option. However I click on the points transfer BOX link, I get the paid option.

Not able to get the free transfer for business account to work. Anyone else?

Have had the account as a “business member” for >30 days (actually it’s been years I think), so that’s not the issue.
