Our Verdict
IHG Accelerate is one of the few promotions that actually makes a difference in my booking habits but only if it’s generous enough. My promotion sucks big time so I’ll be sitting this one out. Fingers crossed you get something better. To be honest I prefer the Wyndham promotion just released.

New customer – just opened the Chase IHG Visa a few weeks ago and already got the 80K bonus completed and posted.
Mine says “Accelerate is the fastest way to more rewards. Earn 30,000+ bonus points toward rewards when you sign up (Link) and stay from 9/1 to 12/31.”
Am I missing something here, or do I just need to stay one night to get the 30K? I don’t see all the tiers most of you are seeing. And I think I can pay using any method, not my IHG card? And, it appears I have to book directly from them; not a 3rd party. Seems easy enough.
Maybe they feel bad for not upgrading me to the 100K sign-up offer? Probably not.
Forget it – now that I accepted the offer I see the requirements. Lame sauce.

Be really careful with the Ts & Cs on this promotion — IHG has denied me points for past Accelerate promos for very small variances.
(Obviously I maintain my reading of the Ts & Cs was correct and theirs was wrong…)

So I can stay 2 nights at one Holiday Inn Express in September, 1 night at another Holiday Inn Express, 1 night at X brand (non express) and a 5th night at Y Brand. Skipping the NYC and points + cash options as no synergy. I can stay 5 nights and get about 76k points. Just need to decide if that’s what I want to do.

Worth? Can any of these be done at the same time? Say I stay a weekend at a Holiday Inn with Your Rate member discount, does that count for all 3?
Depends on your travel patterns, but the minimum number of nights you need to fulfill the challenge is four in three stays. All four nights at Holiday Inns (and not Expresses), two of which were using one rate and one a weekend (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun).
I got this same awful promo YET AGAIN. Just unbelievable since it’s the same horrible one I have currently. It’s like them saying, “we know you haven’t stayed in an IHG property in decades, and we want to make it as unappealing as possible to consider doing it again.”

So basically the easiest way to meet the challenge would be three nights, all in Holiday Inn Expresses two of which is a Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun and one in a listed city. Unfortunately while I do have travel planned in the San Francisco Bay Area during the period, the San Francisco area is defined as San Francisco and San Mateo Counties only, and not the East Bay or San Jose. Meanwhile the Chicago, DC, and Orlando IHG zones are defined pretty liberally, and the LA one (my home market) includes a couple in the outer areas of the market (Palmdale and Lancaster) that often have good rates, although I hate mattress running to an area out of the way I have no interest in hanging out around.
