Our Verdict

This is one of those promotions that I will enroll for and I’ll make sure I use a Mastercard credit card for any IHG bookings but won’t change my booking habits at all. When it gets closer to the end date I’ll check in again and see if I have progressed and if so what my options are going forward but for now I’ll mostly just ignore it.

For those curious about timing, I completed my second stay on December 19 and received an email about the MasterCard on January 9, virtual card to arrive in 4-6 weeks from now or plastic card in 6-8 weeks.

@Dan, no.

Two stays, one stay must be 2 nights. So you can do it in 3 nights. Again, I don’t think the point of this was to go out of your way to do it. It’s good for 2 reasons:

1) If you already have stays coming up with IHG, just pay with your MasterCard.
2) It stacks on top of Accelerate Promo

Ugh! This makes the Marriott promotion for category 1-5 night which I can’t use seem like a good deal

@P – absolute rubbish. This promotion stacks on top of the Accelerate Promotion and completely blows away that crap “promotion” that Marriott is offering.

IHG is one of my least favourite chains. Always inadequate and mismatched furniture, especially wen it comes to the desk and the chair. Horrible for business setting.

I agree. I hate it when the chair and the sleeper sofa don’t have a matching polyester cover. Even worse is when the motel 6 doesn’t have a shower curtain. Want to share any other pointless pet peeves?

Here’s to hoping that it does!

I have a 2 night stay coming up at an intercontinental. If point+cash stays count towards this I will be doing that!

“Qualified Stay” DOES
NOT INCLUDE a hotel stay subject to the following rates: Net wholesale individual
and group rates; Package rates; Employee discount rates; Friends and family rates;
Crew rates; Special discounted contract rates; Seasonal worker/crew rate; 50% travel
club discount rates; Travel industry discount rates; Distressed passenger rates; IHG
Rewards Club Reward Nights/Airline Hotel Reward night rates; Rates booked through
third party web sites; and Complimentary hotel stays.

Does anyone know if points+cash are equivalent to reward nights?

I just asked live chat. They said that a points+cash stay does fall into the “IHG Rewards Club Reward Nights/Airline Hotel Reward night rates” bucket and would not be considered a Qualified Stay
