[Expired] InterContinental Ambassador: Sign Up Or Renew & Get 20k-35k Points After A Paid Stay

Deal has ended, view more IHG deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • IHG is offering 20,000 points when users sign up or renew their InterContinental Ambassador status. This costs $200 or 40,000 IHG points.
    • Must sign up by 3/31/22
    • Must complete two paid nights by 4/30/22
  • You can also get 15,000 bonus points if you pay by cash

Our Verdict

Not as good as the free night deal we have seen in the past unless you’re doing the cash offer. You can view the other Ambassador status benefits here. Personally I don’t think Ambassador status is worth it even with this bonus, but if you’re already paying for it and find it useful then this is definitely a nice freebie.

Make sure you click through and read the terms on the screen to sign up because the terms are a little different for new sign up vs renewal.

Sorry, where is the 15,000 points bonus paying with cash info? It’s not on the IHG website.

Something about the free weekend night that people seem to be missing is this: “The Complimentary Weekend Night is VALID ON THE SECOND NIGHT OF A PAID STAY on the “Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night Rate”. That weekend rate is not necessarily the cheapest rate out there, for example I qualify for a government/military rate that is significantly cheaper. Bottom line is that “free” weekend night is far from being free.

Just so I understand properly (I’m an IHG newbie) – I pay them $200 and stay 2 nights. In return, I get:
– 1 year of this status program with various perks
– 1 free weekend night
– 20,000 points (+/- $100 value)

So basically I’m paying $200 for 20,000 points and a 1 night cert? Seems alright. Depends on the value of the night.

No. You’re paying $200 + whatever 2 nights cost. That will (significantly?) be more than $200.
Depending how you use the FNC, it can just be a wash. You can buy 20K pts for $100. So that FNC will cost you $100 + the 2 paid nights you spent. Doesn’t sound like a good value to me unless you only spend $100 for those 2 nights and use that FNC at a $300/night hotel (must be on a weekend), which is not easy to do. Then you’re up >$100. All that work for $100? C’mon…

How do you buy 20K pts for $100?

Am I missing something? THis seams like a great deal. Isn;t it a free weekend night for 20,000 points? Is that not a good value? Forget it, I see the issue. Please Delete

free weekend night at limited propeties. Not as flexible as points alone.

If someone was going to get Ambassador status anyway, this is basically a 50% rebate, which isn’t awful. Ambassador perks are ok for people who like IHG – guaranteed room upgrade, 1 free night per year, $20 per stay dining/bar credit, etc.

If you are already Spire status, renewing ambassador will keep the Spire status without any stay requirement.

nope, not going to pay $200 for a status whose benefits are subpar
