KLM/AirFrance Not Allowing Award Searches With 0 Balance Is Only A Temp Issue

Earlier today Richard Kerr posted a tweet saying that several readers had told him that KLM/AirFrance was not allowing award searches if you have a balance of 0 (or close to 0). This is actually an ongoing issue that KLM/AirFrance has been running into over the weekends, a reader reached out to me regarding the issue a few weekends ago and the issue is generally always resolved by the Monday. We’ve reached out to the official media teams but are yet to hear back, that being said front line representatives have confirmed this is an ongoing maintenance issue and that’s why people are seeing it occur over the weekend rather than in week.

A friend of mine was unable to search on AF because he had a 0 balance while I was able to search on my app (I have 75K) but I am curious on how others feel the search is. I typically look for international flights or major hubs in the US, and everytime I search, it always tells me no flights available. I look well out in advance. When I first used AF, I never had an issue. Could it be a cookie issue? Thanks in advance

This seems to work with mobile.airfrance.us, at least for me!

I had to use the phone app to search for availability. Had 4000 miles and still had an issue searching on the website

I tried using Air France for the first time last weekend and ran into this. Thought that was their permanent design. Booked through areoplan.

As a DevOps Engineer I’d really love to know how the heck they managed to introduce an issue like that, and only have it show up on weekends. Scaling something down during weekends and disable certain functionality for certain users to limit potential load?
