Deal has expired, click here to view more Kroger deals.

Deal is back and valid until 11/26. Hat tip to FM

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Check your Kroger coupons for the following offer:
    • Save $10 on your grocery purchase when you buy participating happy or choice gift cards totaling $50 or more

The Fine Print

  • Offer not valid on online purchases.
  • Product and offer may not be available in all states.
  • Limit of one coupon per household.
  • Exp 11/26/2018

Our Verdict

Not sure if this will stack with the 4x fuel points offer that starts tomorrow or not. I think it should be considered a third party gift card, but you never know. Make sure to use a credit card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

the $10 off did not trigger automatically, at least as of yesterday 11/20. Has that been fixed today 11/21?

Had the same problem, manager manually took off $10.

I had the same issue yesterday (11/20). $50 happy dad w or w/o $10 extra groceries did not trigger the promised discount. Would-be happy dad came out of Kroger unhappy.

Still not working last night even though i had over $50 food with the same receipt. After the store manager spent 20 minutes “studying” the digital coupon on my phone and i was going to give up, he manually took $10 off my food bill.

This is turning into an unending nightmare. Here’s in Hoo’ville VA, my local Kroger CSR refused to manually take off the $10 off the receipt…. saying that it only comes off 24 hours AFTER the first visit…. (on a subsequent visit — never mind there’s no language indicating that, nor do we get any coupon, either on the receipt or separatedly)

Called up Kroger HQ customer service and was actually told something similar — rep. there knew that there’s been a lot of complaints, that it’s not at all clear, etc., etc. Lucky are those with local managers doing the manual overrides, rather than sticking with the obvious Kroger IT/management screw up on this iteration of the Happy cards promo.

Ridiculous. Glad I didn’t attempt it again in this round. When I did it in the first round, twice, the $10 came off immediately on that transaction (I was only charged $40). Some people ALSO randomly received $10 coupon printouts (immediately in-hand) to use on a future purchase, though I did not.

I think it was a coding bug at kroger brands that it takes 10 off 50+ AS WELL AS prints out vouchers of 10 off grocery. I was at a QFC yesterday and got the grocery vouchers. Today I went back to the same place and it no longer prints out the vouchers anymore

As a data point, the physical $10 off coupons are one per transaction. Are there data points about back to back transactions at self checkout? I did back to back transactions and did not receive the coupon the second time just the $10 off– perhaps there needs to be a greater delay between the transactions.

Seems to be just one per account, correct?

Can confirm that buying a $500 happy guy gift card took $10 off immediately so I paid $490 and got 10 $10 off your next shipping trip coupon print outs valid until 11/19/18. Does anyone know if these future coupons work on anything? Also can multiple of these be used in the same order?

This is a much better deal than what I thought I would get from reading this thread. I loaded $200 on a happy card and I got $10 off instantly. Got 4 x $10 grocery on next shopping trip coupon and also got 800 fuel points. I wish I had put full $500. It would have most likely generated 10 x $10 grocery coupons and 2000 fuel points..That would have been a dynamite deal.

Do the survey on your receipt for another 50 points, too.

It was an actual Kroger in the DFW area.

I did this on Sunday on two accounts at a real Kroger, ~20min apart, at different self-checkout stations, and neither received the $10 printout coupon.

I can confirm that it does work with the 4x fuel points. I purchased one today.

I also had a “Get $10 off your purchase of $50 or more when you download the digital coupon.” available to me. A relative did not have that one in their account. If you activate both that and the Happy coupon, it appears that buying the Happy GC and $10 of other stuff in the same transaction should get you $60 worth of stuff for $40.

How did it go for you? I’m going this afternoon, but I’m seeing a few comments on slickdeals that the additional $10 off $50 e-coupon does not work with this deal, because it excludes gift cards. 🙁 So just the one $10 off $50 Happy GC e-coupon will work, no double-dip. But hopefully at least I’ll get lucky and get the additional $10 off $10+ future purchase coupon printout that some people are randomly getting when buying the Happy GC.

Edit: There are also a number of people complaining that the non-gift-card $10 off $50 didn’t work at all for them, even on a transaction that only included groceries, and they had to beg for manual adjustments. Might be better to just not bother with that one. 🙁

I struck out on the $10 off $10s, but the Happy GC $10 off $50 worked.

Received the same coupon at Fred Meyer. The $10 coupon printed immediately after entering $50 for the gift card at self-check out.
