The Offer

  • Receive 4x fuel points on gift cards purchased from Kroger, no coupon necessary

This deal is valid at Kroger and all other Kroger-affiliated stores, like Ralph’s, Smith’s, Fry’s, etc. Check out the ad at your local store to make sure it’s running there.

The standard deal at Kroger stores is 2x fuel points on gift card purchases, and they’ll occasionally release offers like this one to get 4x fuel points.

It appears that all gift cards are included in this offer – double check at the store that this is true. In the past, there have been mixed reports on whether fixed-denomination Visa/MC/Amex gift cards worked to trigger the bonus fuel points. The terms imply that they do work, but it’s YMMV in practice.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid 4/13/16 until 4/26/16
  • Remember to use your Kroger card to get the points and to use the points

Stack the Deal

There’s also a digital coupon available at the Kroger stores for 20% off each of the Gap brands. This will stack beautifully with the 4x fuel points.

Our Verdict

Nice to see this fuel points deal back and it pairs beautifully with the 5x rewards using the Chase Freedom card for Q2 2016.

To maximize the deal even further, remember that you can get free cell phone service with Kroger when you earn fuel rewards points; no points are used up with this benefit, it’s just an additional free perk which you get from fuel points, aside from the free gas.

Points Details

Usually, every 1000 points gets you a discount of $1 per gallon with a 35-gallon limit, a max value of $35 per 1000-points. These details do vary by store and region.

If you purchase a $250 gift card you’ll earn 1,000 points which can save you up to $35, a 14% discount on the gift cards. You’ll also receive bonus grocery store points on your credit card for Kroger purchases.

Is there a way to downgrade from Sapphire to freedom without a credit pull?

I did it 6 months ago or so on two different cards. No pull that I am aware of.

Thanks to your notice, I purchased one $500 Home depot gift card today just in time to order a Bathroom Vanity Set. I need to purchase 2 x $500 but I end up only purchase one.

I have difficulty to consume 2 gas fill up by next month. My daily routine is 4 miles round trip per day.

I will purchase another Home depot gc from Staples.

I tried today and the 4x still doesn’t work on variable load gcs.

Is the $1 at Kroger brand gas regional, or do the just not advertise it everywhere? My local Ralph’s gas station has the Kroger logo, but the signage indicates “Up to 20 cents off a gallon”. Why wouldn’t they advertise the $1/off a gallon? Less obtainable, but a better eye catcher.

Yup, from Ralph’s T&Cs: Up to 200 fuel points can be redeemed to earn 20¢ off per gallon at Ralphs Fuel Centers and participating Shell Stations in a single transaction for a single purchase of up to 35 gallons of fuel. Credit and debit card fraud prevention policies may limit transactions at the dispenser. Offer can’t be combined with any other discounts.

That’s cold Ralph’s. At least VONS let’s us do some legwork and get to their fueling station for a $1 off.

Speaking of VONS, can this Monopoly game die already? There hasn’t been a single decent GC discount since it started.

Never messed with fuel points. Can you get 4x on a $500 variable?

Has not worked on variable ones, only fixed. So I usually get 5 $100 and get 2000 points (or 2 $1off fill-ups). I also always end up filling the 35 gallons so if you take into cost of card purchase I am paying $14.88 to get $35 off, savings of $20 on a fill-up.

I tried a $100 mcgc at mine and it did not qualify for fuel points.

Do we know the limit on the 20% off gap digital coupon? Don’t see explicit terms via the coupon on the app. Wondering if I can purchase multiple gap gc in the same trip and get the 20% off each one.
