[LA only] Neighbors Federal Credit Union $500 Business Credit Card Bonus

Neighbors Federal Credit Union offers the business Visa Platinum card. Let’s take a look at this card in this quick review.

Card Basics

  • No annual fee
  • Sign up bonus of $500 cash after $4,500 in spend
  • Card earns a flat 1.5% cash back on all purchases

Eligibility

You need to live, work, worship or attend school in one of the following nine parishes:

  • East Baton Rouge
  • Ascension
  • East Feliciana
  • Iberville
  • Livingston
  • Pointe Coupee
  • St. Helena
  • West Baton Rouge
  • West Feliciana

Our Verdict

Fairly strong bonus, especially as far as cash sign up bonuses go. Using the card long term doesn’t make a huge amount of sense as there are other cards that earn 2%+ cash back on all purchases. It looks like you can apply as a sole prop (at least that’s an option during sign up). It will be interesting to see if this reports to your personal credit report or not, people trying to stay under 5/24 will care about that the most.

Define “worship”…cause I “worship” in Felicia from the East alright.

It also says immediate family members. So your Sister could worship in this area as well. And she has a different last name as she is married now. Worth a try. Don’t think most of the credit unions are trying to keep people out.

Someone on reddit alerted this CU about the flux of applications coming from DoC and reddit, and the management is going to “review” these apps.

Has anyone outside of LA applied for this card and been approved? Has it reported to your personal reports? I’d greatly appreciate any info on this!

I sent email inquiry about this and was told that you have to do business in their area plus submit business documents. I replied that I am out of their footprint.
