Money Making Apps With Little Effort – List And Analysis

Below is a guest post by Evan Mullen.

This article will summarize several income earning apps.  Some of these apps are fully passive (no effort after initial setup) while others are active (require daily interaction). Earnings may be taxable, consult your tax advisor. Referral links are provided for each app when applicable.

The apps are categorized into three tiers based on payout type. Feel free to help grow this list by commenting apps not listed. Please format app suggestions in the same format so they can be copied and pasted in directly.

Google Opinion Rewards pays out in Google Pay credits, instead of cash.

Matt
Matt

It pays in cash on ios.

Claims to pay out in PayPal, but my balance is above $2 and it hasn’t paid me out, so maybe that functionality is gone.

I’ve been getting consistent payments via Paypal after my earnings reach $2

Burton

That’s my understanding as well – immediately opened the app when I read that and tried to get my $18 out but no dice.

LC

i feel like this was a lot of work just to read through all these different money making apps. No way could i put in the effort to do even 10% of this for $400 a year lol.

Just few bucks. Lot of effort.

Lot of people here who will go to great lengths, have a lot of time on their hands, don’t mind sharing their personal info or opinions to make a few dollars here and there. To each his own I guess.

I agree with LC, but big thanks to Evan for compiling this list. It’s always good to know our options.

yes, i didnt mean to be disrespectful. This list is comprehensive and some people may find this very informative list helpful.

Agree with LC — definitely not worth the time and effort for a few bucks

Google Opinion Rewards only pays out PayPal on iPhone. On Android it’s Google Play credit (and they expire).

Zack
Zack

They only expire one year after the last credit earned. So assuming you keep doing it, they really don’t expire.

Brandon
Brandon

They expire 1 year from being earned. Not from the last credit earned.

Thank you for this content! Helpful as always. However, in my case, for the extremely minimal amount of potential earnings, I can think of a hundred other things I could do to earn it, all of which don’t require a software download or sharing of personal information.

Thanks for all this work–however, Smiles’ link doesn’t work and I can’t find anything online about it. Is it not for iOS??

+1 I would use this app if it’s on iOS

That app was actually just disabled unfortunately. Sucks cause it was a high earner for me.

WE ARE PAUSING THE SMILES APP ON JULY 4 at 11:59PM PACIFIC TIME
You have done such a great job that we have collected over three million miles of driving data in just three months. Unfortunately, that’s more data than we can handle right now. This means that after midnight on Thursday, you will no longer be able to log new trips. (You may see a screen that asks you to update the app. Please disregard this message as we are temporarily taking the app off the Google Play and iTunes stores).

We can’t thank you enough for all your awesome driving and we hope you’ll stay connected with us on Facebook for future updates! We prefer to think of this as a “see you later” rather than “goodbye”.

Exactly. You’re giving away a TON of personal data, for a couple dollars a month? No thanks.

Credit card rewards are the same…

Millennial Outrage

How? Credit card rewards are much more lucrative and don’t consume the magnitude of personal data these apps ask for.

That data is worth at least 10x what they’re paying. At the least.

Wait you’re telling me I could’ve gotten paid just for walking??!! I lost almost 80 lbs last year. Last week of June 2018 was when I weigh about 225 lbs. Now I am 146lbs at 5’6. Lost most of it through walking and dieting.

App Name: 1Q
Referal Link: 1Q.com/pc4sdd
Description: Get paid to take 1 question surveys.
Passive Earning: None
Active Earning: Earn 25 cent per question. Sometimes you may get 2-3 questions at once but they will still pay per question. (Ex. 3 questions = 75 cents)
Payout options: Paypal (25 cents min). Immediate payments after answering questions

Amy
Amy

One caveat is that you have to be ready to do them when they notify you that a question is available, or else you miss out (they go quickly).

Ferris
Ferris

This is an impressive list. I think most of the best options for simple passive income are closed to new applicants or have certain restrictions now. For the right price, I’ll sell data, which is more or less being collected anyways. It’s probably best not to use your “primary” phone. Last year, I brought in around $600 from the 3 companies I use, one of which is listed on here.

Ry5
Ry5

Why would you not say those three companies?

Ferris
Ferris

It took a lot of effort to find them. I used to do a huge list of things, 10-15 that earned money. Once I would cash out for the first time, I’d either continue or delete the activity. I only had 4 that were worth my return and one quit on me a few years back. Do your research and testing and you’ll figure it out. All spoon-feeding does is end it for the person who did all the work.

Peteter
Peteter

“Spoon feeding?” The entire premise of this website is about sharing information with a community of people. Bizarre.

Ferris
Ferris

Yes, we share things that can last like credit card bonuses, bank account sign-ups, little tips here and there. But there are other opportunities with much more ROI that will break the system if too many people jump on board, hence they never become public. That’s how one of the three I use for this stuff became closed to new clients: someone posted about it and poof it was closed the next day. So what ends up happening is people don’t post the deals that won’t last. If you research, you’ll win. If you don’t want to research, then move on to the next thing. I already dropped enough hints above you should be able to figure it out.

Amy
Amy

I think the reason why I and others like myself get a bit frustrated by such responses is because it feels … I can think of only petty but I know that’s not the word I want (I swear I’m having a harder time coming up with words and getting dumber by the day); it feels something along those lines when I know that it’s not. (I really wish I could come up with the right word; it’s like withholding without the pettiness of petty. Anyway, I mean no offense or disrespect.)

Being told “look around and you’ll find it” seems less helpful than it’s meant to be when you don’t know where to begin (e.g., your last sentence makes me feel like an idiot because I’m not getting it, and I know that’s not your intention). Every time someone suggests it, I always wonder how I even figure out how I’m supposed to start, because I just don’t know–I feel like a deer in headlights, blankly staring and not being able to move forward. Where should I be looking? How should I be looking? (And if people aren’t posting or talking about it, how does one even find out about it–wouldn’t it have to be out there so you can discover it with your research?)

I do appreciate that you don’t want your opportunities to become so common knowledge they dry up; I’m not asking to be spoonfed. But some advice or insights into how to proceed would be welcome. It sucks to feel like I lack the … I’m not going to say intelligence because I don’t think I’m stupid … I guess the creativity to come up with fruitful search methods and avenues. Any assistance those in the know can give us novices is always appreciated.

Ferris
Ferris

I understand your frustration. I am certainly not creative, in fact I tend to score in the bottom 1% for creativity in tests. I’m more of a researcher, a learner so I spend time putting puzzle pieces together. It’s not so much a question of intelligence, but persistence and using what you are best at to learn. We all learn different and all have a personality. Some people just test things, some people research, some people make connections and most people just give up. There is a ton of information in my first post here if you really look at it. These types of things (in this post) are the bottom of the rung for generating additional income streams.

dayTradeIt
dayTradeIt

Good point indeed, on deals that sometimes don’t need to be talked about.
But I believe in this case, no need to mention you have some secret knowledge unless you’re willing to share, IMHO.
Makes comments’ section longer yet not really helping others.

DP: I’ve used Google Opinion Rewards for four years and have earned $164, so about $40/year. It’ll go through periods where I get at least one a day, and then periods where I hardly get any. I like it because the surveys are almost always super short, takes 5 seconds to do.

AL_PF
AL_PF

Exact same, including the length of time using the app. The longest survey I ever took was around 3 years ago about political views and demographic information, and even then, it was under 10 questions.

Every now and then, mine won’t send a notification when there’s a survey available, so I’m sure I’ve missed out on at least a few.
