The Offer
- The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod is offering a $100 bonus when you open a new personal checking account. Bonus requirements are as follows:
- Receive a qualifying direct deposit within 60 days of account opening
- Have a positive balance when the bonus is award
The Fine Print
- Account must be opened before 10/31/2017
- One offer per person
- Bonus offer expires 60 days after account opening if qualifications are not met
- If qualifications are met the $100 will be deposited into the new checking account within 90 days of account opening
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
They offer a free checking account with no monthly fees to worry about. I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if there are any early account termination fees or not.
Our Verdict
Relatively small bonus that requires in branch opening and a direct deposit, generally I don’t think these types of bonuses are worth doing – especially when there are much better bonuses available. If anybody decides to sign up then please let us know if it’s a soft or hard pull in the comments.
