Our Verdict
People should be familiar with HarborOne as they also have a checking bonus for up to $500. This deal is significant better than basic savings rates that are currently offering 1.80% APY, best CD rates are currently around 2% or slightly above for 12/13 months so this is significant better than those as well. If these offers become more common and I fully believe they will then credit cards offering 0% APR no balance transfer fee become a lot more attractive again.

They’re doing another two day CD special (4/25 & 4/28). 2.75% apy, 17-month CD. https://www.harborone.com/remarkablerepeat
I was denied “based on information provided in the application process.” Not sure what that means. It could be they rely on the silly public records searches that, in my case, didn’t make sense this time. It could also be that, though I have a house in the market area, my office and mailing address are outside. Not sure.
The offer page states “Offer only available to residents of: MA, NH, ME and RI”. CT residents are not eligible.
Thanks, will remove CT.
Went in branch and it went smoothly. And the branch manager mentioned there is talks of a couple more of these promotions coming this year. But she says they may be restricting them to people with a banking relationship with them in the future. In branch, they do not allow any debit card funding, at least for the CD. Not sure about online.
For ACH transfer from external account do they first do a verification on external account with two small deposits?
yes
Thanks for this. Just opened online. I could not get credit card funding to work since this CD requires a minimum of $1000 to open and they only allow $500 by credit card. You can fund by ACH transfer.
I wonder if you can open multiple cds at the same rate. I try to do $1k cds in case I need access to some money I don’t have to break all of them.
They did ask how many I would like to open, so I would guess yes.
Even in branch these guys only allow citizens and permanent residents to open accounts. I don’t know another bank that does this.
Also, they pull Chex for checking. Don’t know about for a fixed rate bond.
Anyone know if the $500 credit card limit is also for debit cards? Most of my money is in an online bank so I don’t have access to a majority of funds. And do they let me fund with a debit card? This is a fantastic interest rate. Figure I’ll ask before I go to a branch tomorrow to fund the account.
