The Offer
- Receive the United MileagePlus Club Card with the annual fee of $395 waived for the first year
The normal “bonus” on this card is a statement credit of $100 without the annual fee of $395 being waived. So this offer is better by $295.
How To Get This Offer
There are multiple ways for getting this offer, I’m going to share all of the current methods I know for possibly getting this offer to appear.
- Go to: Mpclubcard.com/2015 and log into your United Account. Offer should appear (you might be redirected to a different page
- Go to: https://www.theexplorercard.com/ClubAFW and log into your United Account
- Go to: https://www.mpclubcard.com/2015 and log into your United Account
- Go to: http://www.united.com/2014clubfree and log into your United Account
- Log into your United Account, click products & services then click Get Credit Cards, click on any other card (not the club card) then click the United Club Card (lower right hand side)
- Go into a Chase branch and request the offer (this always works)
Some or none of these methods might work, it’s just a matter of trying them all and hoping for the best.
Our Thoughts
The main reason people get this card is for United Club access, you get unlimited free access to United Clubs and their affiliated lounges. You don’t need to be flying United to access these lounges as this is the equivalent of full paid membership (~$500 in cost). You also earn 1.5x United miles on all purchases and receive your first two checked bags for free.
Personally that’s not enough to get me to sign up for this card (especially considering how crowded United Clubs often are), if I didn’t already have lounge access then maybe I’d consider it but I really doubt it. I’d much prefer some free miles or cash back than lounge access. That being said, I know some readers will find this offer useful which is why I’ve posted it (we posted a similar guide back in 2014, but this is the updated version).
Hat tip to Sunburn644 on Flyertalk and the United Club Flyertalk thread.
I can get much better value for my food and drink products elsewhere in the airport … or before I get to the airport. These lounges leave a LOT to be desired.
Redirects me to this URL which only offers the $100 statement credit: https://www.theexplorercard.com/Club100SC
O you can go to Chase branch and banker has this offer (saw it last time when applied for checking account).
Thanks, Sergey. Added this method.
There is much easier way which a lot of FTers have already done with Ritz card successfully and that is getting the card with annual fee and later reduce the CL to 1000$.
Yeah, I shared this on the newsletter.
In my experience, nowadays, this offer shows only if you are preselected by Chase, and availability changes all the time. For example, my wife has been eligible on and off for a few years, my cousin has always been eligible, and I haven’t been for a year and a half no matter what I do. Perhaps, it has something to do with the numbers of Chase cards you’ve had over the years. Other than that, I don’t have a clue.
