Our Verdict
Not sure when this deal ends, but flyer was from December 2024 so should still be active. Worth doing if you live near a branch.

After reading mixed DP’s in this thread about chex-sensitivity, I decided to apply in-branch last week and was approved with chex stats of 1/1, 4/3 4/6, 6/12.
The banker had me fill out a form with my personal details using old school pen and paper and explained she’d start the application on her computer, but that I’d need to complete it electronically on my phone. I was fortunate enough to receive instant approval and funded the account with $25 cash.
Unfortunately, this was a no go from me.
I scrolled through this thread briefly before hitting up the branch yesterday. Eric did point out about a heads up about not applying with Chex frozen, but still no dice. They seem to be kinda strict from the back-end dept.
The rep was sort of a newbie and kept bringing her supervisor to help her, but essentially, they do things different at Flushing Bank. They pretty much sent me all the docs and signature disclosures to my e-mail and told me that you just have to e-sign and agree to everything.
Despite doing all of what they requested, it still showed “Thank You for applying, we could not make a decision at this time and to please allow 2-3 business days”
Chex stats was 6 inquiries Year To Date (which is now 7 due to the pull from Flushing)
The rep did call me earlier today and told me they could not approve me from the back-end department because i had quite too many inquiries from other institutions.
So yeah, you would most probably need pristine Chex stats for you to get approved.
denied due to chex, anyone try in branch after being denied online? have branch pretty close to me. I don’t know exactly my chex but probably like 25/12.
DP:
3 * $501 push from Fiedlity triggered the 3 * $100 bonus.
3 pushes were done in 2 days.
how flexible is TD bank in waiving monthly fee for beyond checking?
Wrong post?
You just call and ask them and they will waive it. I know someone that did that recently.
Opened in June
3 Chase ACH 500+
07/15 – 300 +10 bonus – CCR DIRECT DEPOSIT REWARD
Same DP, chase pushes.
what was it coded as?
JPMORGAN CHASE EXT TRNSFR
Type – Credit
Thanks for the datapoint. Imma try it.
Opened this checking. For some reason my verification deposits from my Chase never showed up. Gonna try a 2nd time. Also, I can’t transfer funds out of Flushing bank for some reason despite linking 2 bank accounts to it. Really weird online banking.
is there a hosehold limit in this offer . i am trying to find in offer terms but dont see any
My chex is a mess, Flagstar has rejected me multiple times, but Flushing accepted me. They needed me to send a photocopy of my ID that I used to sign up via email about a week after opening.
Just something to be weary of, their processing of deposits has been slow by an extra day at minimum. Usually pushes from Chase and CapOne take 1 business day on the receiving end to show up in most bank accounts after it leaves, but Flushing has consistently taken 2. This applies to Zelle as well. It took almost 3 business days for a Zelle push to show up on my balance. And they only appear in the afternoon. almost missed the min balance for July.
Also to note, after you verify your ACH, if you try to do a web transfer they may block it and have to call you. They’ll read you security questions, like what address are you associated with and if you have a brother which city do they live in and what month is your mother’s birthday crud. I guessed and got lucky. Hate that stuff
05/29/25 Applied for checking account
05/30/25 Received rejection email with the following:
“Thank you for applying for an account with Flushing Bank. Unfortunately, we are unable to open your bank account at this time. This could be due to any number of reasons, ranging from ID verification to missing or inaccurate information.”
They never contacted me regarding ID verification, etc.
Also, they pulled chex.
