Our Verdict

Reader Jim sent this one in, if anyone has an image or the fine print, please drop it below. Might be worth verifying that your local store is running this deal before going in. If you’re doing shopping at Office Depot, be sure to use a Dosh-linked card for extra 2% back (gift cards are excluded in the terms there).

Staples is also offering fee-free currently, and Safeway has a deal as well.

Buy M/O using gift cards never works at my walmart , as the cashiers won’t allow this to happen. Could anyone knows if buying M/O still works at grocery stores ? I used to buy $499 M/O, but haven’t done it over the past few months? Any input is highly appreciated.

I have a tip and a question. For this current promo, I recommend getting the variable $200 MC’s at OD. They have a bluish purple look to them and the card itself doesn’t have the massive “$200″ printed in the upper left like the static 200s. In fact, the lettering on the card
itself blends nicely into the background and really looks like a r”egular” debit card IMO. This can be useful if you run into a hyperactive cashier at your local grocer when trying to buy MO’s.

My question is this…I’ve searched on flyertalk and redfit as well as DOC and cannot find the answer. Has anyone attempted to aggregate these OD MCs into larger denominations using a site like giftcards.com? My thinking is as follows… I would take five of these $200 OD MC’s and buy a ~$990 personalized gift card with my name on it. I assume shipping and fees etc would be roughly $10. I realize I would need to register each of the five OD MC $200 cards for online purchases. What I would like to avoid is a situation where after I place the order the website cancels my order (for whatever reason) and then I have to wait for funds to be placed back on to all of the OD MC cards etc. If anyone has had any success in aggregating cards into larger cards and can share the site (or brick and mortar store) please do so. If anyone has run into any pitfalls, please share those as well. Thx

While I think I understand the idea, I think it has one major flaw: How would you pay for an order of $1000 with 5 different cards? Or am I missing something? Most web sites do not accept split payments, much less a 5 way split.

Is giftcards.com somehow special in this way?

Thanks DOC!

Downside: straight out MCs, no “everywhere” variations. But, if still available when I have time, more $ for water and the Good News for Liberia project that will end 12/31/2020.

There is no link for an instore offer. DoC has an image of the store sign, that’s the best you’re gonna get.

My OM never has any MC’s over $100. This, plus COVID rates that are over 10% in my area will keep me home.

OD can double dip with DOSH so better than Staples.

Dosh has been hit or miss for me lately as far as tracking. Most recently I saw what seemed to be a $10/day limit (regardless of the number of transactions instead of the usual $5/store I’ve gotten previously.

Dosh has been $10/day/account for months now and has tracked exceptionally well for od/om as opposed to tracking for sam’s club. A very few failures might happen but they happen everywhere.

DOSH is actually reliable enough and posts and pays quick enough that I take their earnings into my calculations. An extra $7.98 per 2/$200 during this promo.

I think gkumar means get money back into bank account. Seems no place is allowed to use this kind of debit card to purchase money order now.

And what we have in the south instead? Publix with another stupid gas card deal.

RB
RB (@guest_1104193)

Alan Exactly. Publix’s deals are just a joke. One has to buy their overpriced groceries to get the $10 of $50 on a gas card or any other similar deal. I think it was 2 years ago since they last did those deals where they used to give $10 off a $100 or $150 visa/mc gc purchases. Since then its only been these useless offers.

Thanks! Don’t have a Safeway where I live. May be that’s why don’t think about those deals.
