Office Depot has announced a restructuring plan, this is expected to be completed by 2023 and according to the SEC filing:
The restructuring plan includes closing and/or consolidating distribution facilities and retail stores and the reduction of approximately 13,100 employee positions by the end of 2023
At this stage it’s unclear how many stores and distribution facilities will be closed.

The effort people put in to MS GCs with 0 fees has finally paid off;)
Considering the fact that these idiots never advertise their gift card sales in the circular, and then let one or 2 people buy up all the stock of all the gift cards, its no wonder these imbeciles don’t make any money.
Wouldn’t letting 1 person buy 100 cards make them the same money as 100 people each buying one card?

Yes, out of 100 people, at least a few of them are going to buy other stuff. The person buying 100 GCs is definitely not interested in office stationary.

Not so much these days, but I’ve been a frequent visitor in the past and their stores are always quiet. I’m not surprised by this announcement.
Every time I go to my local OM store the past ten years I always see more employees than customers (Less than a dozen) and I always wondered if and when they’ll close stores.
i swear, my closest/friendliest OM (suburbia) is always bumping when i go in for VGCs. I’m always surprised at how many folks need paper, folders, printers, etc at 7:00pm.
that being said, there are 5 or 6 within a 20mile radius from my house. It makes it easy to binge on their VGC deals (though, not as much now that most locations limit you to 1), but i can’t imagine it’s profitable to rent out that much square footage for the STL suburban metro area
There are 0 stores in NYC and only 2 in the Central NJ area. Both of them are dead empty every time I go in.
Better use up all your OD and Staples gift cards… In this environment, there may not be enough room for two office supply stores.
Or perhaps the unfortunate future name of SOdOm after they merge.
I’d expect something completely off base such as, Gomorrah.
Still a better name than Bonvoy.
